**Two More Postal Strikes **

Tax credits help with the childcare costs.
I am sorry but these are things that all people face, the world is changing companies, services need to change with it. But not everyone gets the chance to strike and cause disruption.0 -
Considering I saw an advert for posties in our local paper for £7.38 p/h I think they should put up or shut up!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Agreed RayDay, there are loads of us that have childcare issues etc.... and what about the people like JCD's friend who don't want to strike? They either have to strike and loose money, or go to work and face the posible retaliation (sp?) from those bullies that do want to strike. And who gets all the overtime to help catch up what was delayed?
It annoys me that they are striking because if the company doesn't restructure and sort itself out, and they loose their monopoly status, they'll probs be mass redundancies when other companies pose competition....
Also, the Royal Mail supposedly got rid of the second post...... our 'first' post (if u can call it that) NEVER comes before 3 o'clock!

Striking is a very old fashioned and out of place action. It is the ultimate bullying, bullying those who want to earn there money and provide and picking on innocent bystanders who need services - it has no place in a modern society.
Sorry I should put my soap box away but there are workers on less play, in less reputable companies who just have to get on with things because no one would care if they striked people in service industries have a duty to the general public and we do not deserve to be used in there glorified sulking!
I should get off my soap box now!0 -
Nice to see such solidarity!!
So because loads of other people have abysmal pay and conditions, everyone should?
Around 140,000 postal workers are fighting to defend the postal service and to get decent pay and conditions.
They have been offered a 2.5 percent “rise” when inflation is 2 percent more than that – so it’s actually a pay cut.
Bosses also want to introduce harsh new conditions.
These would mean changes such as five workers doing the present work of six, covering for one another’s sick leave and holidays, policing each other’s absences and total flexibility.
The Royal Mail Business Plan means up to 40,000 job losses, and 2,500 post office

That is an appalling attitude not everyone can strike so why should anyone.
Royal mail striking is blackmailing the general public.
Millions have less then inflation pay rises, but would you care if you could not get your hair cut one day a month because of a strike, or would you be bothered if someone who goes round dog poo collecting leaves out the Thursday round. The post is something we all relay on and over the years we have all seen the post go down hill they are shooting themselves in the foot with this with companies waiting to jump in and if they let us down continually why not? Even more job losses then!0 -

I think you'll find that most postmen aren't happy with the way standards have dropped or that a failing business can afford million pound bonuses for their executives.
What's the point of a strike that doesn't affect people? I'm sure you can cope without daily junk mail for day or two.0 -

I could strike no pay rise in 3 years working in the public sector - anyone know enough sign language to explain it to some handicapped young people!0
