**Two More Postal Strikes **

Yes you're right digp. Like she sorted out every mining community in Britain  . Not going to get into a big discussion about this again as i do not come on the forum to fall out or argue with people. A strike is the last thing i need at the moment & without the overtime i don't know what i'd do, but i don't think there's many on here who wouldn't like to make a stand at what in effect is a £4 a week paycut & also make a stand against the fact that if RM get their way 1 in 4 of us will be joining the dole queue. I hear people say we should get another job if we don't like it,but most of us do like the job,it's just the way that it's being run is what we don't like. As Chevalier said, many of the new managers haven't a feel for the business & i won't kid anyone by saying every single postie is hard working, there are some who get away with murder. The Union & Royal Mail should work together to strengthen the business & people within the business who aren't pulling their weight should be pulled up about it & given a kick up the a***. Rant over!i agree - scandalous behaviour. if maggie were here she'd sort it out.Debt at LBM(July 1st 07)-£35,053.92 Debt on 1st Anniversary of LBM(July 1st 08)-£33,170.11 (31st January 09)-£32,318.73Paid off so far £2,735.19(7.8%) Average paid off p.m. £143.95 L/H supporter 115 DFD target February 2018 DFD March 2028. maybe they should get another job, if theyre that unhappy with it, and let someone who is ok with the conditions, take theirs, else they will go the way of the miners
noone forces them to stay
strikings nothing but bullying, but it doesnt work when the absence of their work, isnt that missed, or better yet, can be replaced
HOW DARE YOU?
My OH works in logistics for Royal Mail - He has had his hours reduced because of the new european driving restrictions and a reduction in pay and as a direct result is not allowed to do the overtime that we rely on heavily to support our family!!
When the workers strike they do it for a reason not just to get the day off!!!
We loose £100 per day when this happens but thankfully he has a good union to support him and ensure that he does not get pis#ed on! I would have thought that money savers would agree with the principals of standing up for yourself against bullys? It is Royal mail as employers that are the bullys!!!
GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT!!!You cant have everything; where would you put it?

Dont forget, the man running RM gave Sven the job as England Manager!!0

Unfortunately RM customer service is all about offering lip service. A friend of mine who works in that section has told me that the managers say to the advisors always remember to get an apology in once the complaint has been made and then another apology at the end and then on to the next call without resolving anything.0

No different to any other call centre then?0

RM didn't make the new legislation, why would a strike make it any better?Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -

Seems to me that New Labour have caused most of the problems.
Finance Act changes by GB meaning an end to final salary schemes.
Membership of Europe restricting working practices (and our opt out of that is about to expire) and the news this week that stamps will have to have VAT (17.5%) added on top as VAT free is against EU law.
Postcomm are the source of the restrictive funding and pricing policies as well as opening up to competition when RM wasn't in a position to fight back.
Still seems odd to pick a fight with the victim (The RM), rather than the cause although it's hard for a union to fight a government it had funded into office in the first place I suppose.Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0 -
You're right Jason, although CWU now thinking of withdrawing funding the government. It's a fine mess, that's for sure.Debt at LBM(July 1st 07)-£35,053.92 Debt on 1st Anniversary of LBM(July 1st 08)-£33,170.11 (31st January 09)-£32,318.73Paid off so far £2,735.19(7.8%) Average paid off p.m. £143.95 L/H supporter 115 DFD target February 2018 DFD March 2028. Taking all the emotive stuff out of the situation - it's all very political.
Government subsidise RM by giving them millions - without the subsidy the RM would have been dead years ago (same for the rail too). If you pick a fight with the government, they'll just cut the subsidy (or threaten it at least) or get their whipping boy Postcomm to do it for them (so that they themselves don't look like the bad guy).
Bottom line, changes need to be made. Right or wrong - RM have chosen a route the union don't like. 40,000 jobless is a scary figure but then 4,000 were lost overnight with Rover, 2000 with Peugeot and the governments own drive to reduce 100,000 public sector jobs - so again, GB can't say he needs to cut jobs, cut jobs in the public sector and then allow the CWU to keep theirs.
Just hope the unions and RM management can 'start afresh', forget about their history and the need to 'win' and just do what's needed to proect as many jobs as possible - evn if that means 20,00 have to go.Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0
