The reason why there are so many Pheasants dead on the road is that the so called game keepers are too lazy to spread feed in the fields or woods (as they used to) instead they chuck feed of the back of moving vehicles along the road.
We have it a lot around here too.

And for everything else there's MasterCard.

Isn't it the case of you are not allowed to pick up what you have run over, but the next vehicle along can?

Maybe urban legend, I don't know.

it is something to do with Killing animals with intent to steal

if you hit a animal and kill it and then stop and pick it you could potentially be prosecuted for Killing an animal with intent to steal

but i don't think it would ever be enforced

    Link then.

To either law or urban myth as you don't specify which is correct.

44 tonnes hits an owl, and driver is expected to go back and do what, administer cpr?

Maybe he should have backed up to look for it and restyled the front of your car.

I have just been watching Wheeler Dealers and one thing I was wondering was when Mike goes to see a new car he turns up with his shinny new posh car and returns driving the new car he has just purchased.

How does he get his car back home?

Just human decency would be nice - but what would you expect from a lorry driver?

So he lacks human decency for not stopping when hitting an owl but you don't lack human decency for labelling the personality of an entire group of people based on their job? Are you always this much of a hyprocite or just in this example?

If the driver had stopped what would you have expected him to do? Give the owl mouth to beak? Maybe held a little funeral for it?

If you had rung the company they'd have just had a laugh among themselves about the call. There is no requirement to stop for an owl and he'd have probably ended up in more trouble for stopping than not.

Seriously, get some perspective on this.
