They could do the same with cashback at the till - but I have never been offered cashback when paying with a CC, only with debit cards.
No retailer does that. Nor do I believe their tills would even be set up to be able to do that.
You've never been offered cash back on a credit card because it's not allowed. For precisely the reason why gift cards go through as purchases - cash back from a credit card would be processed as a purchase.0 -

I believe that they can code things as "goods", "services" or "cash advance" within the transaction, but that's about as finely tuned as it gets.
If cashback were allowed on a CC, then it would be coded as a cash advance and charged as such. Like you, I've never been offered it, probably because retailers don't want to offer it because of the minefield it would open up in having to make people aware that there could be a fee, interest etc.callum9999 wrote: »No retailer does that. Cashback is notified to the bank as a separate item by supermarket tills. As I've demonstrated before, some banks list it as a separate item on the statement.43580 -
My retailer offers have completely vanished now. Taken the weekend off, perhaps, but this isn't very helpful.0

What a waste of time that was, only Waitrose offered. They obviously take no account of location when making the offers, the 180 mile each way drive will negate any cash back and I doubt they will deliver0

I finally managed to sign up for this on Friday but it just keeps saying zero offers available.0

That's like mine I don't use the debit card attached to it at all its simply for the interest and cash back on my direct debits.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
No offers for me either. Looks like somehing that could be a great perk though so I hope they get it going. Hopefully they get the likes of Tesco in there.0

Sounds a bit like the Lloyds and Halifax offers - I never use their cards for shopping and never had any offers from them yet. I do use my 123 card regularly and have Waitrose and Heals offers.0 -
Only have Waitrose for me..Don't normally go there but might go few trips until it expires. Hopefully something good will appear soon.0
