  • I made a purchase using littlewoods discount codes as a first time buyer (which I am). I got email confirmation of the cost (under a tenner) yet my online banking showed that they'd taken the full price from my account (over £30).

I called them to be told that it is policy to take the full amount then refund the discount once they know that the customer is keeping the item.

To my mind this is theft. I agreed a contract whereby I pay £9.90 for goods and they provide said goods. I did not agree to pay over £30 for those goods.
If I was short on cash, or at my overdraft limit, or had only budgeted for a certain amount to leave the account etc this could have caused me to be in fininacial trouble, including having bank charges applied.

I have emailed a complaint to Littlewoods as I think this policy is complete pants and in a business sense can only mean more paperwork for them, and that is before they cause the consumer no end of bother by taking unauthorised amounts of money from accounts.

Has anyone else had this problem too?? Beyond complaining to littlewoods I have no idea who to take this up with. I am livid about it though.

All i will say is from there perspective it is not bad business sense,
if you think about it they do that too all the customers take the money and give refund in a few days
that money which goes into the bank accrues interest thus making them more money without any trouble, why do you think they dont have an exchange policy for similar reasons

well i ordered a pair of crocs at 12ish on thursday . they arrived about 6pm last night i couldnt believe it.

checked my online banking this morning and they took the full price out £29. But the refund was on the same day for £18.50.

I cant believe it was so easy!!!!

Just wish there were more codes for existing customers.

Yes, the order has to be for at least £50. Don't forget you can use 'XX' codes on the same order with 'ZG' or 'ZQ' codes.

I think the £23.50 will work on a £45 spend
