Isopropyl alcohol (you can get wipes impregnated with it) is great for removing icky residues from anything, including skin - but don't get it on the cut. Still it's nicer than nail polish remover (which AFAIK is Acetone - I wouldn't want that anywhere near a cut). Also alcohol is a good antiseptic so it can't do your cut much harm.
As for making your own "plasters" with micropore tape and lint - you shouldn't use lint (or cotton wool or anything fluffy) on broken skin - it can stick into the cut and can mean it takes a long time to heal/gets infected. Not very nice.
If you do want to make your own "plasters", then use some non-woven absorbent stuff. But I'd really suggest just buying some less sticky plasters (e.g. ones advertised as hypoallergenic). They have the disadvantage of falling off more easily though (but you can always stick them down a bit more with the micropore).student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0 -
My son had one of those horrible fabric plasters put on him nearly a week ago (he was with his father at the time). I can't get rid of the black sticky mess from the adhesive it has left behind. He doesn't like a bath so has showers but I have been soaking it in a bowl of soapy water most days.
Does anyone know how I can remove the sticky adhesive residue they leave behind?
Thanks0 -
surgical spirit (and maybe nail varnish remover?)- just don't get spirit in the cut though as it will sting!Jan 2013-£140,231.65

Baby oil, or baby oil gel?
It works on wax residue so is probably similar.0 -
acetone - small bottle from chemist (this is the active ingrdient in nail polish remover) but as fothers says, do protect the wound (and clothing / furniture etc!)0

Ordinary nail varnish remover should do the trick whether acetone in it or not.0

Thanks all. I used nail varnish as I have some of this. There are still some marks which are near the graze as I didn't want to touch them, but it looks loads better.0

Try putting honey on the next graze if it's not bleeding too much, much better than a plasterNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
