I'd had the same thought Slinky. :) I don't know if he can have two chips but I will ask the vet when we go - Pops is due his annual jabs in November anyway.

If they can't then fair enough. It's a bit of a pain but wasn't enough to stop us having him. :)

    Hey all,

Still a bit worried about the lack of pee. I know cats can get constipated or hold their poops for a few days due to stress so not surprised by that, but is a lack of wee more serious?

Stupid question - his litter isn't the clumping type. Would we definitely know if he'd peed in it? Would we smell it or be able to see it?

I use a paper based cat litter, you can generally see a darker patch when it's been weed in. There would usually be a bit of evidence of some digging/rearranging of the cat litter whilst he gets himself lined up (or not in our old cat's case, you could have given him a tray the size of a football pitch and he'd still manage to poo all over the side of it).

Percy didn't go for a couple of days when he moved in here. He seemed ok in other ways but would not use the tray. I was getting really freaked out when he finally decided that it was ok to use. I think it's a standard response to a new environment, Pops is probably still having a good sniff round and working out where is safe to go.

    He's so beautiful :)

    Thanks, both. :)

He peed and pooped last night!! I have never been so happy to see a cat go for a poo. :rotfl:

He then went a few more times, making up for lost time, and the novelty wore off.

This morning he came straight up to us when we went into his room and was miaowing (first time we've heard him miaow) to get out of his safe room. He had a little explore of some other rooms with us following. He then found his downstairs litter tray all be himself and went for a wee in it!

He's back in his room for today as we're at work, and he can explore the house properly at the weekend when we're about, then he should be good to be left to his own devices in the house, we think. :)

Sounds like Pops is settling in nicely:D
Next step will be letting him outside - assuming the roads are safe!
I've just recalled that Cats Protection recommended that the cat be able to see out of all windows before the big day so they can get an idea of what their locality looks like. Also if you let him out for the first time before a meal then he shouldn't go too far before coming back for some grub.

I can't even imagine letting him out yet! He'll be inside for a month or so, till we're as sure as we can be that he won't stray. The roads aren't busy on our estate so it's as safe as a built-up area can be. One of his favourite spots in his safe room is the windowsill. I came back from Tesco this morning and he was looking out the window at me.

As he started to explore he definitely liked the conservatory, which he can check out the whole garden from.

Speaking of Tesco - pet food! A whole aisle I'd never been down before... As if by magic, his current favourite wet food was on special offer. :D

A current favourite usually only lasts until you buy a big box of it - then they turn up their nose like you're trying to poison them :rotfl:. Awkward little beggars :D

We were told he's fussy. His last owner would just keep swapping between three different brands (literally swapping each meal). Apparently the Gourmet Gold has to come out if he turns his nose up at a few meals, because he'll always eat that, but it's too rich for him to have every meal.
