Lost money transfer?

Last month I used my Santander online banking service to fast transfer £750 to my brother-in-law. Turns out although the name on my list of previous payees was correct the account details were not; the money has gone to an RBS account that I do not recognise. I have been advised by Santander that I must deal with RBS; RBS advise me that they cannot deal with this matter and Santander must contact RBS. This morning Santander have confirmed to me that they cannot deal with this matter. Please advise me; what can I do to try and get this money back?:(

RBS can't do anything to help you directly, but they can try if Santander ask them. Santander are either incompetent or are blatantly lying to fob you off.
Sent money to the wrong bank account? You'll soon have more help getting it back - Money Saving Expert
That said, they have to help, but can't guarantee that you ever get your money back.0 -
Read the details from the link. Then log on to your Santander account and go to secure messaging where you can log this as a complaint. Make sure that your written message to them mentions that you have already contacted them and they have refused to help you.

Well this is what to expect when one banks with a cowboy bank like Santander...........
Only interested in luring you in, couldn't give a stuff about you when things go wrong.
Complain to Santander, it is their problem not RBS.0 -
Santander - a bank that didn't require a bailout, yet you say it is a "cowboy" bank. How does that stack up?Well this is what to expect when one banks with a cowboy bank like Santander...........

You seem to know a lot about what Santander do with their profits, so I guess that you are employed by them perhaps. If Spain needs a bailout then it needs it for its banks. One of those banks, as far as I understand the situation, is not Santander.Yet............no it just sent all its profits to Spain....who need bailing out.0 -
I don't work for them. Sorry.0

I wouldn't trust either of themI have a deep burning indifference0

Please stop bleating such xenophobic nonsense and educate yourself about Santander UK's business before you make comments on it.
You can find their corporate information on http://www.santander.co.uk/uk/about-santander-uk/about-us
Can you provide some facts around the required bailouts, perhaps? Which bank(s) needs bailing out in Spain?
May you can also point out the spanish banks that failed the ECB Stress test which was published yesterday? And explain to us how this relates to Santander, and specifically Santander UK?0 -
Back to the OP's problem: Santander should be helping you, OP, as suggested in posts #2 and #3. If they do not, file a sharply worded written complaint with them.0
