Vauxhall to end lifetime warranty

Astra gets 4/5 on Honest John. Contrary to what you think, its a decent enough car. Probably the "big 3" in its class are the Focus, Golf and Astra.
Vauxhalls arent terribly unreliable and in need of constant repairs.
An 11 year old people carrier isnt going to set anyones world on fire, however the Zafira was a good car in its time - and up there with the best at the time.
Even now, you can buy a brand new 7 seater Zafira for £9995. Find me a better 7 seater for less.0 -
They may not be the best of the best but they do make decent enough cars. Not everyone wants to drive a golf or aspires to drive a german car.0

Ah now you're moving the goal posts - you complained initially of numb steering, now you've moved to price and residuals.
The steering is fine in the cars. It doesnt need to be on the cutting edge of dynamics - thats not where they are pitching.
I've driven - and sold - a LOAD of Vauxhalls. They're generally a perfectly acceptable means of transport for the bulk of people and are usually good value new and used.0 -
Oh you're in the Golfs are the best because they're German camp. The only car I ever needed a new steering rack on was a GTi a week out of warranty. Never needed one running a 6 year old Vectra though.0

I thought most Vauxhalls were German cars.0

I wouldn't say Golf is really a far comparison because they are more expensive to buy than the Focus and Astra.
The Astra competes with the likes of Megane, Hyundai i30, Kia Creed,Megane, C3, Fiat Bravo etc while the Golf probably competes more so with the Civic, Alfa romeo giulietta, Volvo C30, Mazda3 etc as they're in similar price brackets.0 -

Golf, Astra and Focus (Escort pre Focus) have always been the 3 main mid sided hatchbacks compared to each other.0 -

I've driven both actually.
The Yaris was uninspiring to drive, more so than the Corsa, and personally I thought it handled quite heavily for its size.
I liked the Jazz a lot but sadly it was out of my budget, we can't all be spaffing cash on things BMWs and Audis

My last two Vauxhalls were Spanish, as was my last Volkswagen.
We're all Europeans now!0 -
I suspect VX found out it didn't affect sales very much, few people buy new and keep for that length of time; and a promotion that adds unknown costs down the line after sale of a new car isn't very smart for the accountants.
Plenty of decent Vauxhalls to be had and they can make for fantastic, cheap motoring. Important thing to remember is that different manufacturers have different attitude to dashboard warning lights. With a VX it is pretty usual to a have a premature light on worrying itself needlessly, whereas at the other extreme, by the time a VAG warning light comes on, your engine has already disintegrated.0
