Hi,I've had hair extensions for just over a year now.
Mine are the bonded type and last 3-4 months.
The quality of the hair is just as important as the quality of the extensionist- make sure you have Remy hair as its good quality !

Yes, you can wash it just like normal hair, although you do have to be carefull which shampoo you use,as it can soften the bonds.

I love my extensions, and have found that my natural hair is in fact in better condition than before as I'm not using my straighteners as much on it.
I think that probs can occur if you've got very fine hair, as the weight of the extensions can put tension on your scalp - but any good extensionist should give you a consultation first.

Hope this helps. Anymore questions please ask

So, how much does it cost to have them replaced after the time period?

I pay £150 for the extensionist to put my hair in - it takes 3 - 4 hours.

Plus the cost of the hair ( I get mine frome ebay - about £75)

I had them and I hated them. I had the best natural hair on the market and had them bonded in. But, I hated not being able to brush my hair properly, I didn't like all the upkeep of only washing hair upright, having to plait it every night for bed, and the mess of the hairs falling out.

However some people love them and it is personal choice, I can't say my hair was in bad shape when I had them out. But my natural hair was starting to look really frizzy because it wasn't getting trimmed so the ends split.

This hairdresser charges £70 for hair and £50 to put them in. Would cost £300 if I had them done at the salon she works at, but she goes mobile too.
  • Have you purchased these hair extensions before, If so what did you think?

Woohoo! I'm normal! Gotta go tell the cat.
  • I went to go and buy some in a hair and beauty shop in America and the clerk recommended not to..apparently, they are very poor quality synthetic hair, you'd be better off with 'clip in' real hair extensions, which aren't much more expensive.
  • Any further advice on hair extensions ??

What method does she use ?
Does she do individual bonds,or does she glue in a weft ? individual bonds will last a lot longer than a glued/taped weft - wefts will only last 3 to 4 weeks max.

The quality of the hair is important too - I'm afraid that you pay for what you get. If you just want to see if extensions suit you and are just having a weft fitted for a couple of weeks cheaper quality hair will do.

She does individual bonds. She rekons she will need 150 - 200 pieces for my hair & suggested 14" lengths. She told me she usually gets 4 months out of hers and she checks them every month and replaces any which have fallen out.

And make sure you check the back of your hair with a mirror-I've lost count of the amount of girls sat in front of me on the bus with big gaps in the back of their hair so you can see the extension plugs lol
If it hurts no-one, let it be
