My DP is having a magazine subscription from me as he constantly complains about the price of his magazine each month but loves reading it.

He is also having some CD's. He's quite old fashioned in the way that he would much rather have a physical collection of CD's rather than download the music and he is very into his 80's metal music so I have bought him 4 cds so far and his subscription.

Nearer to xmas when Aldi get's their offers and bargains on I will pick him up a bottle of Whiskey if they have any or a couple of bottles of red wine.

He will probably also get a t-shirt, again he likes his music tshirts and has lots of iron maiden t-shirts so I will hopefully find another to add to his collection.

He has a list written on our whiteboard at home of what CD's he would like to buy and I have taken a picture of that on my phone and carry it with me so if I am near a CD shop I can nip in. Most are second hand but he's always chuffed to bits as long as they play properly. He is now banned from buying any cd's until xmas.

Sounds like you've got it under control, I've realised that I don't ever even buy music anymore. I buy CDs of my favourite band but that's it - spotify has taken over for me. It's quite sad really! :(
  • I've not decided on what I'm getting him this year, but over the last few years of christmases and birthdays I have got him things including:

bottles of his favourite whiskey or gin,
a sports car driving experience day voucher,
    a kindle,
a few bottles of ales I know he probably hasn't tried,
some new t-shirts (which has the added bonus that he doesnt have to go shopping for new ones which he hates),
and as he's a big kid at heart so I've previously bought him things like a mechano set which he loved!

my husband I don't decide if we're doing prezzies for each other until nearer christmas as we're on a very tight budget. I'm a keen comper so he normally gets a few wins to open on the day & he usually magics a few things for me too

As we gave so many other people to buy for, we don't really focus too much on presents for each other.

I always do a stocking for OH with all the normal boring stuff like underwear, alcohol, chocolates, etc.

    Sorry, not very inspiring!!!

Last year I bought a press and all the bits to make cider. We had a great time making it (and drinking it) recently.

This year I am going to get some bespoke picture frames to hang his running medals which are hidden in a drawer.

Each year I try to get something unusual which he will love.
  • In the past I've things including:
Dvd box sets, films or shows from his childhood
    Chocolate
    Quiz books and games
    Books
    PJs
    Remote control helicopter
HM beer hamper Inc snacks and accessories
    Lego
Memorabilia from his fave TV shows

I'd like to get him tickets or experiences but he doesn't see things he has to wait for as presents, he wants it now! ;)

We also do a Stocking for each other for little bits, sweets and more silly things!

He rarely asks for anything, but this year he wants a slanket... such an old (soft) man!

we don't buy each other expensive gifts for xmas or birthdays, but i like to get him some little things to open on xmas day, this year i'm thinking more shaving stuff, a new wallet, and possibly a portable speaker for his iphone.

in the past i've bought him aftershave (always on offer, but usually only once i've had a good sniff of them and approve :D) a silver and jet bracelet, and last year i got him an engraved cigarette lighter, which was probably the least expensive item i've ever bought him, and its one of his favourite possessions.

My DH has asked for a wallet so i will get that from the kiddos and put a pic of them in it.

He works away and misses every other Xmas so I go out when he's home :)

So usually a stocking with bits n bobs, as a main present I'm thinking of either a football table thing (space and the irritation of how much room it will take up is putting me off) one of those storage things for his tools or a beer pump and keg :rotfl:

Bit of a novelty one that!
