Lender asking for birth certificate??

Comments

  • no they will not accept the declaration they said

they will ONLY accept the deed poll from 1999 so now I have to write to the UK passport agency requesting a 'subject disclosure' so that they can send me whatever they have on my file from 1999.

I don't know how long this will take weeks???

I am absolutely heart broken, I kept crying and crying and crying on the phone to the mortgage advisor I was sobbing so much I could not be understood by him

I would be interested to know the proposed lender?

    it's Kent Reliance

I asked my mortgage advisor whether there was something 'there' about my application (is it dodgy, do they want to decline it??) he said 'absolutely not'

I sent off a subject disclosure form to UK passport agency with the £10 fee
now I am praying they will still have a copy of my Deed Poll I gave them in 1999 and they send it to me ASAP (within the week would be nice but am not holding my breath)

I spent nearly £19 to send it special delivery for 9am monday morning :(

I also already spent £60 for a 2nd deed poll (which will now be useless as they will not accept it dated today with declaration the name change happened in 1999) and £10 to UK passport agency

total cost (without the emotional distress plus all the other stuff) is so far £89 :'(
  • I have a 'very wealthy' friend here in UK, just 45 minutes drive from me.
she would be very willing to give me the money my father has and write me a gift letter, however the lender will only accept a gift from a family member.

We even asked if my BROTHER could gift the money to me
I was going to wire the money back to my father then my brother would wire it to me.

However my brother has a joint account with my father so the money would have come from same account.

They said no to both solutions above

that is why I was thinking there must be something they are not telling me but mortgage advisor does not think so.

At the risk of provoking a rant - and with all due apologies if I am mistaken...

Suspiciously similar issue recently raised on another thread (slightly different 'proof' request provoking the OP's ire in that one, though): https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5096744

sorry but what is suspicious? my thread??
    why?
    I'm sorry I don't 'get it'??

also my thread is not saying I feel 'accused' of anything

but I do wish that they asked me for these things back when we discussed where the gift was from and blah blah, I even asked about my father's name being different from mine won't it cause an issue?? oh no no they said, you're not the only one who has a different name from their father, it will be alright.

alright?? weeks later it is not alright anymore, I could have had the documentation by now if only.

You can kind of understand that, though, right?

Maybe it's about time your brother got an account in his own name...?

Sincere apologies for any offence caused - but what I meant was that both posts concern something that I believe one would be expected to provide in these situations, coupled with an irate reaction and an aggressive stance to those offering advice:
I would appreciate it if you try not to 'rub it in' further by the way, if it's not too much to ask? :D
    .

    Hope you get it sorted.

hahahaha thanks that's not going to solve this problem now though :D

I think my brother has very good reasons to have a joint account with my dad and they can leave that as it is.

    thank you RuthnJasper

I don't think I have been aggressive to those offering advice have I? that is why i have put smileys in posts.

I understand it is difficult to always catch the emotion/etc of an internet post so if I have come across aggressive I apologise that was not my intention.

PS my solicitor has not wanted proof of my father being my father by the way and on my father's letter it clearly states his name and my current one which are both very different, so it was no secret we have different names. If my solicitor did not want this then I thought it was not a legal requirement for money laundering right? also as I mentioned the lender too knew that both of our names were different ages ago, but instead they sit on it for weeks then all of a sudden they decide they want 'legal' proof of me being his daughter. Fine if it is a requirement, would have been nice to have been asked earlier.
