Lender asking for birth certificate??

the lender has asked for 'proof' that my father is my father (he's gifted money to me and we have provided the 'famous' gift letter already)
so mortgage advisor is asking for a birth certificate
I AM SUPPOSED TO MOVE IN 2 WEEKS !!!!!!!!!! I will be homeless, how can they play games with me like this????
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
I have a different surname to my father, but 'still'
my father has provided a copy of his official ID to prove he is who he is
my name was changed by deed poll (which copy I do not have anymore) my current british passport is on my current name so different from my father.
I was born in Italy, it will take WEEKS to get a birth certificate
then what do I do? ask UK passport agency if they tell them of my change of name? (as when I originally applied for passport I gave proof to them of my change of name)
I am so furious,
advisor said he is going to call lender to ask if we can do this any other way

Why have you arranged to move out of your current place if you do not have a mortgage offer?
Its uncommon but under the circumstances, I can see their point of view. Not all lenders would go to this extent however.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. There's no games being played. This is deadly serious.
Living abroad from where you were born. I'm surprised you don't have a copy of your birth certificate to hand. As is required on many occasions.0 -
ok, not even the UK passport agency has EVER asked me for my birth certificate by the way!!
anyway, I called my brother in Italy, he popped out from the office and went and got me a birth certificate: easy! I thought it was going to take weeks!!!
but now problem number 2, I don't have a copy of my deed poll for my name change (which was in 1999).
I obviously did change my name as I have a passport on new name...
I called the company who did my deed poll but they do not have a copy in archive as this was prior to 2000 and they only started archiving in 2000
so now they are sending me a new deed poll to do again, the new one will state that I changed my name in 1999???
can't I just write this myself so I can send it today to the lender???
what is the difference with this piece of paper this deed poll internet company will send me? they said all I have to do is sign it in front of a witness and it is legal.0 -

'exactly'
so why have they not asked for it 6 weeks ago, they knew ALL ALONG of my father having a different name and blah blah blah, why make me wait and bleed all this time, do the valuation, then wait again for another week then 'oh yeah by the way we now want official proof that your father is your father'
hello????? you knew this all along so why now?
I know I can rant as much as I like at the end of the day they are the ones giving the money and as such if they ask me to dance naked on the north pole I'd have to but I wish they did not play around like this0 -
I changed my name in 1983 at the age of 17.
I still have a copy of the Deed Poll, but trying to get a "notarised" original proved impossible.
In the end I did a statutory declaration of change of name and swore it in front of a solicitor, charge £5.I am a mortgage broker. Applications will be proceesed in stages. It would be assumed that somebody has all there important documents to hand should they ever be required. The fact you haven't isn't the lenders issue. Just like the fact you've agreed a moving date before even having a mortgage offer. If you had asked that question previously you would have received very advice on this forum.0 -
I would appreciate it if you try not to 'rub it in' further by the way, if it's not too much to ask?
you do not know my exact circumstances so it would be nice if you do not make too many assumptions.
Anyway, I have found an official CRB statement issued 2012 where it states my previous name.
I also have a letter from 1998 from my university where it states my previous name.
I am now praying these will be acceptable.
thanks for the declaration tip by the way, I think these can be witnessed by any person of good standing in society not just a lawyer. As I am a health professional I know many doctors and a couple of them know me since the day of my previous name too so that should be ok.0 -

thanks going to solicitor now to get it signed, does it have to say that my new name has been in force since 1999? as of course I have a passport in my new name which is in date but was issued in 20090 -
