  • That's a good question LilacPixie. I have found the same thing. In my Mr T shop, I used to be able to buy their own brand for 99p per bottle. Now, you can't buy just 1 bottle, it's in a pack of 2, and it's now a staggering £4.15!
So, I think I have a gungy inner dishwasher too _pale_

Home Bargains have some in for 99p if you're near one.

Lol, not so easy for me. I live in Shetland, and we don't have any shops that are cheap! In fact we don't have many shops anymore :(

  • I run a cup of malt vinegar on a programme without a pre-wash (or it will rinse it away before it's had time to work) and it comes up gleaming!

I use half a cup of bleach - balance the cup on the upper rack, select hot cycle, away you go. Mind you, I only do this about twice a year as I regularly wipe the inside of the door etc with kitchen roll and check the filters most days.

TY everyone. I do the door wiping, checking fliters and making sure plates well scraped etc but after 6 or so weeks I just feel it doesn't clean as well, I suspect stuff gunks up the pipes that i can't get too.

We have a home bargains in a city shopping centre but parking would cost.. I'll have a looksie next time i'm in town.

I'll add your query to it later.

The best stuff to use is half a pint of distilled white vinegar run through on a 60 degree wash. That will keep it sweet smelling and limescale free. Do it every month or thereabouts and it will be good enough.

Anyone have any idea how to do it?? I usually just run a full hot cycle using a bottle of dishwasher cleaner but at £2.15 in my local Mr S compared to 75p earlier this year I am looking for something a bit more MSE. :o Hubby been made redunadant so its cost cutting all over the place for us.

Question...does it actually need cleaned? I live down near Edinburgh in a soft water area so no limescale at all, I clean the filters out once a week at least and the inside is still gleaming after four years of heavy use. The pipes seem to be running perfectly clear as well. So what's to clean? I was under the impression dishwasher cleaners were primarily to do with limescale build up and if you've not got that, the normal washing cycle would also clean the insides along with the dishes. At the very most one cycle run without dishes should give it a good wash through.
