Stay or go? EU poll - Oh the irony.

It isnt obvious to me what alternative criterion one could have. However it doesnt matter much whether it is sensible or not, the key point is that the UK government agreed to it and is now whinging when its politically inconvenient.
The EU is deflating. How much should the UK contribute in the future? System may be workable in times of growth. In decline it's going to cause any number of imbalances.
My local NHS trust is already struggling to pay it's wage bill this financial year just 7 months in. I know where I would prefer the money to be spent.0 -
It's exactly like that, but that won't stop the anti-EU brigade acting like it's a crime against humanity. Obviously the EU didn't help itself with how it announced it and asked for virtually immediate payment but it's a non-issue.
You can see the most obvious nonsense on here in the posts that claim it punishes success etc. I get taxed more for earning more as does everyone in this country and that's not typically seen as punishment.
There must be an election due? I think most large business operate like this i.e allocate overheads based on estimates and then correct based on actuals.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

That's where things diverge. Companies have a good insight into their financial position whereas Governments don't. Data is maintained on different platforms. Meaning that information is out of date as soon as it is produced.0 -
The conservatives have dug themselves into this hole. They've taken every opportunity to blame the EU they can, complain loudly about every foible etc to appease their right wing. Now they're so dependent on that voting block they can't escape.
How ironic then that the EU is gaining more popularity as the right are becoming increasingly rabid?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Eurodrone 1 : "Hmm looks like Cameron is coming over to try to renegotiate EU policies, to ward off a political problem in his country."
Eurodrone 2 : "We need a diversion. I know, how about announcing a big bill that he'll be forced to argue about and then, at the end, drop it by half so it gives him something to go home with and say he won? While changing nothing."
Eurodrone 1 : "Press the Go button."0 -

Does that include Tesco 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

Manipulation of reported numbers is a different matter. To do so requires a full understanding of the financials in order to create the desired outcome. Easy to hide in times of growth and expansion. As soon as the financial performance deteriorates then the misstatement becomes obvious.0 -
Have you heard the news ? EU beurocrats have announced that because the UK has been doing better, it needs to pay an extra 2.1billion by December. It's a UKIP gold mine. This was totally unexpected.

This just goes to show how incompetent and stark raving mad the Brussels elite are.0 -

Maybe the rise in EU popularity is what happens when people see what the consequences of narrow nationalism north of the border nearly did to the UK.
I cannot see the obsession with a referendum. Referendums cost a lot of money to organise. Until an anti-EU party gets a reasonable proportion of the popular vote, it is a complete waste of money. People say "I have never had a chance to vote on it" but there are lots of things people are too young to have been able to vote on that are still accepted without the need for a referendum.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
