There are mitigating factors as to why PC isn't popular in spite of the lower prices.
Don't really want to get into an argument about PC vs Console but there are considerably more PC gamers in the world than console gamers, plus PC Gaming as an industry is worth twice the console market largely due to it's resilience to consumers migrating to mobile platforms. Not all games will run on it, some people do not want to fork out for a new GFX card or whatever every 6 months to play the latest title at great to maximum graphics without FPS slowdowns.
Sure if you want to always run everything at max then you need to upgrade regularly, but in reality you don't need to upgrade. A £500 PC today will run almost every game at 60fps+ at a resolution of 1920x1080 without much effort. It is impossible to test all PC variations to make sure it works, whereas games for Consoles are mostly tested to perform at a certain level, often without, or very limited FPS slow downs.
You could argue than the consoles greatest advantage (homogenised hardware) is also it's greatest handicap. On release both the XB1 and PS4 contained hardware that was arguably underpowered. If you want a graphics card to last a few years (I.E. latest top end card) you are forking out frankly large amounts of money - and you also have to research and find one compatible with your current hardware (there's a video on Youtube from a channel called Mikepreachwow who had an issue like this where he spent a good amount of money and told the story of how much of a nightmare it was to get the 'right' kit, and it not be compatible, can't remember the video name though).
Not as big an issue as you are making out. I'd encourage anyone to have a stab at building their own PC and not much research is needed to find compatible equipment. There are also stacks of 'template' machines that are well tested and well regarded.[*]Not everyone likes gaming on Keyboards and Mice. I gave up my 360 years and years ago to play WoW, and more recently, LoL. 6 years on and I'm no better at games with a keyboard and I'm shocking on FPS games such as L4D or BF:BC2. I will never be of an average skill on the PC format.
You can use game controllers on a PC too (point about controller support taken). However for FPS games it is clear that players using keyboard and mouse (especially gaming specific mice) will have an advantage.[*]In my case at least, not all my friends can afford to upgrade their PC periodically to keep up with the demands of the latest games, so we all play Xbox One, it's easier all round for us. For me, I just can't be bothered upgrading my PC to keep up, consoles are just more convenient and that's what I grew up with.
And that's perfectly fine, I play on consoles as well. However I'll always question the premise that PC gaming is more expensive. It isn't. The graphics card in one of my PCs was bought over 3 years ago and is still able to play fifa 15 at 1080. Sure I can't run modern games on it with everything on ultra settings but it doesn't mean it still doesn't look good. Sure you can spend a fortune (and I did) but you don't have to. Over the course of 2/3 years buying a game a month the PC route more often than not works out cheaper.
I don't advocate anyone make any decisions based on anything I say but I would encourage anyone who is considering buying a new console to do a bit of research and see if PC gaming is more suited to them. That isn't to say I don't play PC games, I do, but I don't play them that often. I mostly have games from Steam that were on sale at stupidly low prices, or F2P games like LoL.
Yet another benefit of PCs... steam and humble bundle!0 -

some people need to save all they can. it isnt always about being a tight so'n'so. you do know the makers of the game dont lose out due to cheap prices dont you? its just the retailers themselves that lose. anyway game closed the store in my town. i would have to travel to a neighbouring town for my local game store now. so stuff'em.0 -

With just under 7 years of games retail experience I'm pretty well versed in how games companies get paid - also pretty well versed in how much they cost. I wouldn't go so far as to say supermarkets make a loss on major releases, but they make bare minimum profit on them because they can make their profit elsewhere. That's not an option open to games retail because of the lack of product to "shift" that profit potential onto. (I'm also perfectly well aware of places games retailers can make good profit - back in my day we used to love third party peripherals!)
I'm lucky my local Game is still around, their staff are significantly better than my local indie (who's idea of customer service is not telling you to f-off!) & ultimately it's not difficult to better a supermarket for gaming needs. I probably have a slight bias towards specialist games retailers because I was one for so long, but ultimately I'd rather see Game selling games & Tesco selling groceries. (And definately don't want to have Tesco doing my accounts any time soon!)
With regards to PC, it's just too fiddly for the vast majority of gamers to go with triple-A gaming on PC, they either lack the grunt in the machine OR the expertise to avoid that scenario. Even as a PC gamer though I have to say I wouldn't be able to run Advanced Warfare at a standard I'd find acceptable - so I bought it on console. Alas that's a sign I need to build a new computer, but well, I guess after 7 years of use & abuse (and one killed graphics card) it's high time this one was retired.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

by the way its interesting that you rate game staff so highly as most comments about them here tend to say they are clueless.
my experience of most retail staff not just in game is they tend to try and push you to buy what they want you to buy.0 -
That's crazy! I usually wait a while for the price to drop instead of preordering, but queues sound mad!
the problem is due to its popularity cod games take an absolute age to drop in price. preordering is a good way of doing it but dont preorder online as it may not arrive when it should. i may have mentioned it already but only 3 people ahead of me in asda on sunday night.0 -
CoD's popularity plummeted after Ghosts. I think a lot of people waited to buy until after early purchasers had played and given their opinion.
Hence the short queues and quiet midnight launches.0 -

I'll be honest, I did give up console gaming for a few years to play PC games, WoW, Rome: TW, C&C, LoL, KSP, BF:BC2, L4D and even tried to get in to CS - I even had FIFA 13 and Fable 3 more recently that all ran on my PC with a wired XB360 controller.
But I was never good at the games that required a keyboard and mouse (for example, WoW, I was a great battleground healer and a friend who was Gladiator ranked in Arena often asked how I was so good at this, but not great in Arena.). I could raid heal well, but I didn't really enjoy PvE that much, and I missed playing with my friends on consoles, but at the same time, the current games on consoles coming to the end of the generation, weren't attracting me back to console enough.
Back on topic somewhat though;
Has anyone got this game and consider it worthwhile? I was having an in depth discussion with some friends the other day who usually get all the CoD games, saying they were fed up with the brand and know a bunch of other people in the same boat and were just not buying it. One reason was "it's all the same", and the second was "DLC on release date you have to pay for" - which spun off in to a whole debate about DLC altogether.
I haven't bought a CoD game since CoD4, and I played Black Ops for a week, got good at it but got bored and gave it back to who gave it to me.
My friends seem to think there are many more games coming out which take a much bigger priority over the latest yearly edition of CoD - to name a few, Evolve, The Crew and they even said they'd prefer to try BF:Hardline.Professional Data Monkey

i havent played it yet myself but my dad said he has been enjoying it. however he has hit on occasion sections where you have no idea what you need to do. i think hes going to have to watch a clip on youtube to get past the bit he is currently on.0
