Except that you have to agree to their terms and conditions when you place an order.

Unfair terms and conditions are unenforcable terms and conditions

This is the problem, they have set their account uo to take further payments for a reason. When someone places an order on my website I cannot dip into their card for whatever payment I feel like, I can only take 'up to' the amount that is authrorised.

You could try giving Trading Standards a ring, see what they say and make a complaint at the very least. If enough people call (mine was a long time back) then they will have to do something about it.

Parcel Monkey have just sent me a copy of the print off//computer record from Royal Mail. It states the parcel was:

    47 x 47 x 37

    The parcel was actually:

    43 x 27 x 38

I was thinking originally that they measured it to be a few mm more that I had claimed. But this is absurd!

Yet Parcel Monkey are saying without photographic proof nothing can be done.

So I'm feeling very powerless and angry tonight.

Dispute the payment with your card provider.

Please call trading standards as well, they need to be stopped from doing this.

Trading standards (do they even still exist?) will do nothing, but if you dispute the payment you'll get your money back and the parcel company will be hit with a fee.

I see nothing in their very scant T&C which outlines charges for items deemed over the 'booked' size.

Unless there is a separate clause during checkout they have no legal right to take further payment. You need to be challenging this.

Yep, that's the one. And indeed I have been challenging it relentlessly, with both Parcel Monkey and Parcelforce, but neither are having any of it.

I have contacted my CC company and given them all the details to challenge the payment. I'll update the thread when I have a response. I'm not holding my breath though.....

RE Trading Standards. No, they no longer exist. I don't know if there is someone else to turn to such cases.

What I am thinking of doing though is starting a new post here asking for details from anyone else who has had this with PM or PF, and at the same time warning anyone who does already use them that this is a potential. At the same time I could maybe try doing the am on other similar forums. I want to spread the word as wide as I can! Companies should NOT be getting away with this....

....as I'm sure I have already said, I would have been livid even if they had disputed my measurements by a few millimetres. I was very precise in my checking. The fact that they have claimed the parcel was up to 20CM larger in one dimension just beggars belief.

Thanks to all who have contributed and helped.

Sorry to come back after so long.

Could this be a typing error and it should have been 47x27x37 which is more or less what you thought it was?

Trading standards can and do do plenty, depends on the cases. The problem here would be that it is probably not considered a consumer purchase so, whilst they may offer advice there isn't too much they can do.
