I don't know... But I have just checked and they still have not taken anything yet. So when you say dispute the payment, if you are referring to the additional payment then I guess at this stage there is nothing to dispute. I've got no idea whether I can call the CC company and block them taking the money. I guess I should give Santander a call and find out.

On the other hand though, I don't know if I might be breaking any kind of contractual agreement with Parcel Monkey if I do that.

    What a bloody pain!

Thanks for all the help though. At least something nice is coming out of this.

Dispute the extra payment if they take it, they'll then have to justify taking 2 payments for 1 order.

Problem is that he should not have to do that. I just cannot believe that this is still going on after so long and, more so, it is allowed.

However, they will just tell the bank about the T&C which allow them to take more later if they need to.

I (and many others) have had a similar thing with DespatchBay. Mine was allegedly due to having tape on the parcel. Although no one ever offered me proof from Parcelforce that they had even levied a charge. As far as I could make out DespatchBay occasionally randomly add a charge and say it was from Parcelforce.
It could be that PF randomly add a charge but the fact that the third party seller can't or won't dispute it is quite alarming.
I'm pretty good at Parcelforce requirements as I used to have an account with them. One driver took against me and had every parcel double checked for size, weight and anything else when he got back to the depot (one of the other lads there told me).

Looking at Parcelmonkey's site there seems to be a fault in that you are only prompted to enter dimensions is the parcel is longer than 1m. If you click on this you have to put in the size.

If you try different dimensions you get very different prices - the OP's dimensions give Parcel Force prices of £10.15 or £10.89 + VAT. It is the same price for larger parcels too - 50cm cube for instance.

Larger parcels like a 95cm cube which still would be under their 1m limit, would be £48.93.

OP, did you pay £10.15 or £10.89 + VAT? If so PM have accepted the parcel at the correct price which would still be valid with a bit of squashing as it seems nowhere near the size limit.
  • Hi martindow.

Yes, I noticed that too. However, I don't think it is the case. After you enter the weight and get the quote, you are taken to another stage further along the line at which you have to enter the dimensions. So, you either click the larger than 1m button and put dimensions in right away. Or else you put them in later and the quote goes up accordingly.

I paid £21.38+VAT but that's because my shipment was bound for Denmark....

    Cheers
  • Still no money taken (just checked).

Surely if you didn't authorise the payment, then any money they take from your card is theft.

Except that you have to agree to their terms and conditions when you place an order. No doubt they include the right to surcharge for parcels booked with incorrect dimensions or weights.

The issue here is that the OP is certain that correct figures were entered.
