8 month old faulty TV and Currys?

I have purchased a TV 9 months ago and within the first 3 weeks it developed a fault.

I got it exchanged for a new one and last month the same fault occurred, the manufacturer admitted it was a manufacturer fault and repaired it for free.

When the tv retured to me it had the same fault again, the manufacturer - we will call them Samscum, said this was a brand new part and shouldnt be faulty.

I contacted currys hoping they would repair or replace the TV under the sale of goods act but they have been stalling to make a decision.

What are my rights if the manufacturer wont repair the problem for a second time?

Your rights are with the vendor not the manufacturer .

The screen was replaced but with another screen which has the same fault.

Do currys need to offer a repair or exchange by law is my question really

Guess you failed the attitude test then and they have decided not to bother helping you further and left you to fight it out with the retailer.

Not at all, all the lies coming from their side made them earn their new name :D

They are just convinced the damage is 'cleanable' instead of getting the repairman out again to see for himself.

I see we have a Samscum fanboy here lol

I am not sure they may say as you have had it repaired elsewhere they are not liable and to take it back to the guy who repaired it .

Did you take the TV back to Currys and then they got Samsung to repair it?

How long ago did you contact Currys? They will probably want to contact Samsung to get a repair history on the TV, even if they get that they are likely to want to repair again and I'm sure they send things directly to Samsung for repair and don't do the repair themselves.

Technically as it is over six months since purchase they can insist that you prove the fault is inherent by getting an independent engineers report before doing anything to help you, if the report finds in your favour they would have to reimburse you for the cost of the report and repair, replace or refund (can be reduced to allow for the 9 months use). If the report doesn't find in your favour they don't have to do anything for you.
