Private sale, buyer says vehcle is accident damaged
Comments

Unless you were aware of an accident, they asked you specifically and you denied it, they have no come back.0

Yes it can make a difference as trade sellers can't use the ruse "sold as seen" to an unsuspecting member of the public and hence abdicate themselves of any responsibilities. Trade2Trade is different. But in all likelyhold the buyer is still a chancer and has been laughed at by his/her mates for buying an unfashionable car.
Do you legally have to state you're not trade?0 -

Thank you, I dont know why he avoided it and is trying to get all hung up about the op being a trader.0 -
It's not safe to drive, following a badly repaired side impact, but it can be fixed for FOUR HUNDRED QUID? Seriously? Do they think you were born yesterday?0

They can then arrest them for ignoring it.
Any dispute over the car is a civil matter and the channels for taking legal vengeance is via the county court.

This.
Totally.
14 year old car that they inspected for 40 minutes before purchase and it might need some repairs?
No mission of that sticking in court.0 -
A week later he's called and said he wants to return for a full refund as apparently taken it to a repair centre who have told him its been damaged in a side impact and will cost £400 to repair and isn't safe to drive in current state. Told him no sold as seen and now he's threatening court action and that he 'knows where we live'.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -
Mechanics = meat head friends designed to looking intimidating so they can milk you afterwards.
Well that's what I would have though if he said he wants £400 back rather than a refund on the car.
None the less he has no rights. He had ample opportunity to inspect and investigate before buying. He even bought knowing there was some sort of issue with the door. No comeback here0 -
Nah, just a simple after-sale discount.0
