Found out my Wife could be pregnant over the weekend...

Congratulations. She will probably just feel very tired. In fact, silly tiredness was how I knew I was pregnant. Good luck x"'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

Your wife is definitely pregnant so a big congratulations to you both.
It is not uncommon to get pregnant immediately after stopping the pill...I did. But it is drummed into us that it can take some time to get pregnant so it can be a shock to the system when it happens so quickly.
Your wife can carry on normally for most of the pregnancy as long as she is not affected by morning sickness although tiredness will no doubt kick in as the bump increases in size:D
Stress needs to be managed down to sensible levels though.0 -
He he.
So reassuring to know that someone else took more than 5 pregnancy tests one after the other.
I'd been trying to get pregnant for 2 and a half years, and I couldn't quite believe the blue line either. Think hubby told me to stop at test 9...
It is a bit of a shock which didn't sink in until the midwife had her hands on my tummy at the booking in visit and said I felt about 8 or 9 weeks gone.

:jCongratulations!
I would say that, after 7 tests, you are definitely pregnant
It's nice that you have got your head around it happening so quickly, one of my closest friends announced at the beginning of December that they had decided to start TTC.....she announced her pregnancy in the middle of January (only to me and only because they were coming to ours for our monthly dinner which would normally involve stupid amounts of alcohol!!).
Her husband turned into a bit of a tit when they found out and didn't speak to her for 2 weeks.....he was really miffed that it had happened so quickly and had banked on 'at least 6 months' of trying, meaning his social life wouldn't alter! It was apparently her 'fault' :rotfl:
Their DD is 3 now and they are still very happily married following some head/backside extraction!0 -
Congratulations. False positives are so rare you can assume you are expecting. Most GPs won't even want to see you for now, mine wouldn't until I was 7 weeks and that was just to get the ball rolling for registering with the midwives, check I was taking the right vitamins, and getting blood tests done. Home tests are so accurate that GPs don't test you.
Let your wife get on with things as she knows her body, and be ready to take up the slack when needed. I was fine until week 9 when the afternoon/evening nausea kicked and tiredness kicked in. Hubbie read a book for expectant dads where it said that a woman's body is doing most the work in the first trimester and is doing more when sat down than he would be doing in the gym, so do most of the housework. Then later on when the heightened sense of smell kicked in he would have to put his deodorant on in the garden and stop cooking with certain spices.
Every woman reacts differently and has different symptoms and complications, so encourage your wife to share with you and to rely on you. I had no cravings and felt great after 18 weeks, but had a pelvis complication which made walking and sitting very difficult and painful which was frustrating as I otherwise felt fine. Others had sickness throughout, high blood pressure, carpal tunnel syndrome, migraines, heart issues, etc as pregnancy can bring on temporary things that aren't typically pregnancy related. Just deal with each thing as it comes and try to enjoy it and make good memories too as it is exciting.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
A lot of midwives now just have direct referrals, in my area we certainly do. You just ring direct and we sort out your booking appointment for about 8 weeks, no need to see the GP at all.
She is fine to carry on as normal, in fact I would encourage it. Pregnancy isn't an illness, it's a normal stage of life. Of course you doing the hoovering and making the cups of tea will never be seen as a bad thing

Congratulations! :j
As others have said, false positives these days are very rare, it often just takes a bit of getting used to! When I have gone for first scans I've always been nervous in case I made a mistake and there's no baby there or something, but you get to see a little baby wiggling around on the screen and it's surreal because you don't feel it until much later. I'm 14 weeks pregnant with my third child now and still have to remind myself every so often that there's a baby in there
Heavy-lifting doesn't tend to cause any risk to the pregnancy, but a pregnant woman is more susceptible to back and muscle injuries because of the hormones.
Very happy for you both!
