So if the journey's too cold for it to kick in, why bother turning it off...? <scratches head>

Sorry, where did I say I did turn it off?

Sadly a lot of misinformation here.

You can reject faulty goods if you are not deemed to have 'accepted' them - and after just 4 days you'd most certainly be within that period.

At this stage their only defence is

if the fault is so minor that it would be deemed unreasonable to do so

Minor could be a lot of things and also isn't a significant number of things. Minor might be say be a broken clip holding a wire in place so the chassis instead leaving it dangling - not likely to be things like sensors which are integral to the cars running. And certainly not prominant functions failing repeatedly.

Did you make same mistake as me with referring to a quote?!

(Also, I have no friends, let me get that straight) :)

No, I merely assumed this "workmate" was a friend, since I couldn't be bothered to scroll up to confirm the precise relationship.

Ah I totally didn't get what you meant, do now!
Sure he said he leaves it off or turns it off, sounds like it stays off when cold anyway.
He does talk a lot of nonsense to be fair.

And you're adding to the misinformation - it would need to be a very MAJOR failure before you can successfully reject the car - engine blowing up, gearbox failure, etc.

You cant just decide you're handing it back and everyone HAS to accept that.

Also, to reject you need to "put it beyond use" - either by giving it back to the dealer OR by leaving it somewhere but NOT driving it.

It could take months to reject through the courts and theres definitely no guarantee of success, particularly if the dealership turn around and say "yeah it was a faulty sensor at £10"

ITYM "faulty sensor covered by the manufacturer warranty, so free of charge"
  • I'm not generally a fan of dealers and how they try to wrangle out of warranty claims etc but rejecting a car for an engine light first time is bonkers. If this was fifth time back with no success then maybe, but this just comes across as buyers remorse.
Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

Got a huge Buzz out of it.

I was using the £10 sensor example if how it could be a very minor thing to fix, not that the customer would be billed.
