BT also charge for a phone with caller display, I think its £50 ish. Why should people have to pay extra because they cant police their service?0 -

If you have an existing phone without caller display then buying a new one with caller display to replace that will cost around the £50.00 mark.
You also have to pay about £2.00 per month on your bill for the caller display service. Its not free.0 -
A single cordless phone with caller display will only cost you around £20. Caller display from BT is free if you commit to a new 1 year contract. Once you have Caller ID you wonder how on earth you managed without it.
What would be the biggest improvement is to make the use of forged caller ID's illegal - I am getting sick and tired of seeing numbers like 0123456789 etc, these things are a sure sign that it is a cold caller - and get left to the answer machine to handle. Phone companies should be made to ensure that these obvious forged ones are blocked, not leave us to do it.0 -
Tesco's is £2 extra, Plusnet's 99p and Sky's inclusive. It used to be free when I was with BT.0

Your answer machine won't be so overworked!0 -
I'm with Talk Talk and has a free call blocker
All these calls are either "unavailable, or witheld.
Several of the family use witheld, God knows why, it drives me bloody mad, and they won't use answer machine.just keep ringing.
.
I got 5 yesterday, same ones, auto recording, and 1 selling double glazing etc, which I wound up, but, bet, she will call again , "We just happen to be in your street working and";;;;;.I just say," hang on, someone at the door", and leave them hanging, they get fed up, and hang up.
I can set my clock by them.My wife even gets them on her mobile now, mines never on.
Switched answer machine off now
Not on my own by the length of thread.:)0 -

As above, caller display is free with BT Privacy

But only for a year unless you keep taking out a new 12 month contract0 -
