re-cold calls on landline
Comments

I unplug the phone and then plug it in when I want to make a call. Obviously if you have people who are vulnerable ringing you its different. People can contact me by email/facebook.
Also when I have been caught out I dont listen to all the rubbish. I just put the phone down straight away.
TPS makes no differnce as the majorit of these cold callers are from outside the UK. They are from Bagladesh/India and Pakistan.0 -
I'm with Talk Talk and has a free call blockerNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

I don't answer calls from withheld numbers or international calls. If it is something important such as my GP for instance they would leave a message.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

People pay to call and to be called, I don't recommend your solution at all!0 -

thats what i do too - i don't answer my landline up to around 8pm generally, if its someone i know and want to talk to they'll either leave a message or contact me on my mobile.
if I do pick up the phone and its a cold call, I just disconnect the call (I usually say I'm not interested, thank you before I do, but I don't encourage any response to that, i'm already hanging up).0 -
But you really must have a little fun winding up the 'people from Microsoft'.
I dont answer "international call", I have to answer "with held" numbers because im under drs and hospital very regular.....But I use to get loads of computer telephone calls , and one day I thought right im sick of you lot , and he done his usual crap talk and asked me if I was near my computer so I said hang on I will get to it, he told me to turn it on so I thought id better turn it on cos then he would hear it start up, so all I done was start it up.......He went through loads of questions with me press this press that etc and I just sat there , I made out to him that I was so thick with computers and that he would have to bare with me , this went on for at least 15 mins, and he said to me in a foreign voice " what do it say on your screen ", I said it says " THIS IS THE BIGGEST SCAM IVE EVER HAD ON SCREEN NOW PLEASE F*CK OFF..........:D:eek:.....I was so pleased with myself and I had to laugh at what id done, my family loved it , result, no more computer calls.....My motto is " one life live it ".....:)0 -

What "vital" functionality? It's not vital that anybody calls me on my landline, that's why I have a mobile phone.
We've decided at the new house to do exactly the above - we'll have a landline (we want BB so no choice) but we won't leave a phone plugged in.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Its not vital that anyone calls me on my landline at all. Im not wanting calls from Drs or anything like that.
I ask people to contact me via the internet as do a lot of people now. I did get a call blocker but saw that BT charge you for using the service. So I thought, no as I pay enough for their service as it is. I sent it back.
BT also charge for a phone with caller display, I think its £50 ish. Why should people have to pay extra because they cant police their service?0 -
Never had one cold call until I registered with TPS and within days I was bombarded by at least 10 calls a day from various withheld, out of area and numbers I do not know.
I only have a landline for BB and the only people I've given the number to is my parents - and they call me on my mobile. I leave the phone switched off most of the time and only use it for making calls to numbers that would cost me more from my mobile.0
