Just updated my sig. Now have £21.19 left till the end of the month, so I'm feeling quite pleased with myself. My initial £150 for the month was a stab in the dark but looks likely to have been a reasonable one. I'll need a few bits and pieces in the next few days but should be a bit under budget. Since I last posted, I've had several NSDs and just a couple of small shops at T*sco. I've included £6.98 on groceries I gave to the person collecting for the local foodbank at the front of T*sco. T*sco are going to add to the amount collected, so it all helps.
It makes me feel a bit guilty. I'm trying hard to economise but I've never been so hard-up I needed help with food.0 -
Quick question - I'll come back and update spends later.
If you bought a loaf of bread, and got it sliced, and it had huge holes all the way through (like a tunnel) would you return it? No there is no mouse at the end of the tunnel but I did check :eek:Stay at home Mum to DS Oct 2011 and DD Dec 2013

Hello all,
I finally got around to going to T£sco to stock up on dry goods. They have 2Kg bags of chick peas, lentils, kidney beans, dal, polenta, lots of things that I use regularly but used to buy in bulk, organic.
Now that I have decided to leave organic behind (sadly, but need must), this is my best option to stock up on my staples, from the ethnic aisle. Good price on almonds, too, just over £8/Kg, got 2 bags which should last me a long time.
I make almond milk using around 70-80 g almonds per litre of water, just like on the commercial cartons (I looked at the almond percentage) and with that I get a full litre of milk. I just blend the almond in water and use it. I don't filter it so we get all the goodness and fibre of the pulp too, for approximately 65p per litre, instead of the extortionate prices of the commercial stuff. And no waste package. The hazelnut milk is brilliant for custard, it has an almost chocolatey flavour, but I am waiting to get the hazelnuts in L1dl where they sell them very reasonably priced in 200g bags. I always buy a dozen bags or so.
DH likes to take nuts to work in a little box with his packed lunch, as a pudding sometimes, mixed with raisins or sultanas. Nice and healthy (keeps him away from the chocolates vending machine LOL).
I was also able to buy a few bits and pieces for the foodbank as there was a collection, which is good, I meant to do it but never got around it and this was a good opportunity, and apparently T£Sco add 30% on top of what gets donated.
After the foodbank food cost was deducted, I paid £43 (round figure), which is all stock-up stuff. I am going to update my sig now. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Feeling very pleased with myself today as I was just putting on my shoes ready to go and get a loaf and some milk when I thought s*d it and got the bread maker out instead and also remembered a carton of UHT milk stored away :money: :A so 4 NSD in a row.
Have wrote a meal plan out for the next week and the only meat I shall want is bacon and some chicken thighs if I stick to the plan.
I will need to go shopping tomorrow though as the milk wont last.MARCH £62.38/2500 -

I only got sugar (49p at £stretcher) yesterday BUT after calculating all the spending this month I have to declare November 14 as FAILED. Although I am still under my budget in my signature I have lost one receipt of T's which definitely got me over this time. Well, I blame the season as the goodie box is filled for the December table with things I don't normally buy. And I went shopping twice with teen DD2 and poor student DD1. Surely I'm not alone, lol....
I still have enough food to get us over the week. NSD today.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
