I could be wrong, but I think you can get gluten free oats?? I'd have a look in the free from section at the supermarket.

Mr A sells GF porridge oats for £2.68 for 450g I believe. You could probably find them cheaper but certified GF oats aren't cheap in general.

If I were you WantToBeSE I would get your son used to rice porridge/rice pudding or something else naturally GF for breakfast instead.

Mmmm, I LOVE porridge! Although I am not sure if I can give them to my son as I think oats have gluten in them? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, he's love porridge as he is having oatabix and HM GF toast for breakfast at the moment. Poor thing is missing his usual food, and I am finding it hard to do all the baking and cooking that come with being GF.
I believe this contains Malted Barley Extract which contains gluten. Just thought I would say as if on an elimination diet will not be able to have this.

Edit: I know GF can be a challenge. I have an aunt that is coeliac and it looks as if I am or have an allergy to gluten so am having to do the elimination diet too. It's a pain as I have to be dairy free as well.

  • Managed to have NSD's on Monday and Tuesday but after working late last night, I was too tired to cook and just had a mountain of toast instead. Used up all the bread so popped to Adsa's today and spent the princely sum of £2.14 on 2 loaves of bread, a cucumber and a tin of beans. Need to use up some sausages and all I could think about yesterday was having sausage, chips and beans so that's what I'm having this evening :D
Almost out of cereal bars and crisps for work, and will definitely need more milk, but I only have £1.36 left of my budget so might have to get inventive and scour the cupboards for some snacks for work ;) Luckily it's pay day on Tuesday, so only have 3 work days and the weekend to get through. Determined not to go over budget on my first (re)attempt at the challenge!!!!! :A

Ok, would i be right in saying Rosie would monitor the posts and add recipes to her index as they appeared? Were they highlighted in red or anything to bring them to her attention? I'm just trying to get a better understanding of the time involved as we want to make sure people don't over commit themselves if they volunteer

Can anyone help me understand if i have this right? :A

Just checked back and Bluegreen143 did the recipes before Rosie. Blue green was active in the October thread so a pm might get you some useful info? I'm racking my brains trying to think who else has done it in the past.
