  • Glad my husband doesn't have a problem with lack of bread
Another Nsd for me today, made a butternut squash and broccoli lasagne for tea, wouldn't make it the same way again. Was edible, but not very nice.
Hoping I can manage until Thursday with what we've got in.

In the freezer I've got 7 or 8 tubs of blueberries, A 2kilo bag of frozen cherries (bought lose late in the season), 2 bags (maybe a kilo) of frozen grapes, a bag of spinach, a bag of green beans, a bag of sweetcorn, a bag of mixed veg, bags of frozen onions, ginger and garlic, and several (maybe 20?) tubs of cooked veg in various forms (ratatouille, moussaka, caui cheese, mixed soups).

In other news I've a small mountain of tinned carrots, spinach, mushy peas, dried peas, dried onions, mango, peaches, pineapple...

and that's just off the top of my head.

I'll have to buy bananas. I'll struggle without bananas.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

    Hello,

Shopping day at the market as I needed fruit and veg, so a tenner went there. Then bread, eggs and a few special treats for DS who needs encouragement while he is in his first few days of bring a non-smoker. I really don't mind spending a bit extra on wasabi peas and salted cashews if they keep him off the fags. Another tenner there.

Then I just hit tempted by Thrifty Lesley into buying some vanilla pods on fleabay, another nearly £4, all rounded up to £24 to update on the sig.

Unless something drastic happens tomorrow should be a NSD.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • £1 spend today on milk. Might do a small midweek shop from Mr T's tomorrow (i have mid-week delivery package)

  • Another £7.88 today. 11 NSD's so far this month.

Grocery challenge has made me think before spending on food and household items.

Now I need to extend this mindset to the rest of my life.

Our first grocery shop of the month (!!) happened over the weekend, and came in at £53.66. Hubbs has been to the shop today for a loaf of bread, but hasn't given me the receipt as he bought me flowers as well, so perhaps anther pound or two to add for it.

It's an expensive month otherwise, so every savings in the grocery store helps!

Need to go today for marmite (seriously my small family of 3 seem to go through a jar a week) lurpack & oil. Other than that we are still going to be eating up leftovers for lunches & dinner.

    Hi all

love living with a lunatic. After a lovely meal of mystery meat from freezer which turned out to be rabbit and lots of veg DH has driven to town as he can not manage without bread until tomorrow am when Mr T was to deliver, "But" says I, "you will not need it until lunch, after Mr T delivers" he responds straight faced " I dare not risk it, I have to have bread in the house NOW"
So I have cancelled whole order, and as I am away from weds to sat I will not be doing another shop. Bread he wants and bread he will get until sunday! In the words of all teenagers in wales "Thatll learn him gwd" Am laughing so much as i am back on target:rotfl:

    Love it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • Should have lots of NSDs as am off tomorrow to a 3 day conference, glad you all enjoyed the bread saga. I confess I am still laughing. I was so disappointed to go over budget again, and it just magically put me back on track.

    Missing my chickens though!

I do love the way you are all so focused and keep it up. Like a diet, but with money. Impressive.
