Yippee! NSD today, brings me to 4/10. The challenge seems feasible now and because of reasonable spend, next shopping trip I shall buy some wild salmon for dinner in the next few days, prohibitively expensive but the only one I want to eat, having seen documentaries about how the salmon is bred. Like battery chickens but in water. Brrrrr.

Of course as the day went on DH and DSL doing the DIY found that they were missing some hooks. If it is not hooks it is screws or drill bits or whatever, any excuse for a trip to bandq! So I have stopped considering their little building works spends as part of my spend day, otherwise I would never have a NSD.

After the long lie in of this morning I got up and did a bit of laundry tidy up, a bit of ironing (all the washed shirts are ironed, a first for me!) and baked a vege mince and tattles pie with side of broccoli and courgette stir fry and gravy to go on it. Pudding stewed apples and berries with custard. The men are pleased and so am I, as they have done great work, fixing doors to the new kitchen units, which the builder from hell hadn't figured out how to do.

    Have a good evening.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

  • Hi all, another NSD for me as we took a picnic lunch out with us and had a dinner from the food in the fridge and freezer. Honey roast gammon was delicious and enough left to go with the bit from last time to make a pie another day!

  • NSDs on Thursday and Friday but spent £9.41 yesterday and today.

Yesterday I got round to doing a full inventory of the freezer and all food in the cupboards. I think we'll be having a lot of soup and things involving peppers in the next few days.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi Caterina
Thank you for the party bag tips. I think I followed the latter advice. I also do not believe in spoiling children with stuff. We recieved so much today I am sorely tempted to put half away until Christmas! I really don't think he needs 21 gifts which is that number we had in the end. But that's off topic for the thread.
The good news was there was so much cooked chicken, potatoes & veg left I think we won't need to cook properly again till Wednesday. Going to do chicken soup tommorow for tea.

Maria - thank you too. Love spat out birthday cake :))

Not long to go for several of us on this challenge I notice? 8 days ish.

    Night all.

We tried our cats on ald! cat pouches this week. They are very fussy, but they are eating them. I can't believe the difference in price - 85p a pack instead of £3.50 a pack. Some belt tightening is needed, if we are to keep to budget this month. How do I stop 3 teenage boys eating everything?

POTATOES, but it has made mine a bit fat!

  • Swapped tomorrow/tonight on the meal plan as we got a message to collect an ebay win at the last minute while the ham was roasting...& ds wouldn't have been happy waiting for spud peeling & yorkie making after that.

    Here's our week:
Sun - Real ham (as my dad would say), egg & chips. Fruit salad.
Mon - Roast dinner...leftover ham, gravy, mash, broccoli, runner beans, stuffing & hm yorkies. Last of the fruit salad.
Tue - Leftover ham & mushroom carbonara, salad & garlic on some form of bread (depending on how much time I have to whip it up). Prob. just dough balls & garlic butter to dip for the naughties.
Wed - Last of the ham in pea & ham soup with bread.
Thurs - Hm pizza covered in veggies & a sausage or 2 chopped up.
Fri - Red lentil, carrot & beef spaghetti bolognese.
Sat - Lazy leftover bolognese & oven chips.
Sun - Deep, deep, deep, deep, deep freeze ys white fish with a mushroomy/creamy sauce with parsley, jacket spuds & veggies.

Here's hoping everyone has a lovely week. x

85p a pack?!?!?! How many pouches do you get in that? My cat is fussy as well and only seems happy with Fe1ix or Wh1skers so I always stock up when they are on 2 for £5 - 12 pouches in each box. Would be more than willing to try the A1di ones though if they are that cheap!!!! :D

It's for 12 pouches. It was so cheap I had to try it.:money:
