Changing from halogen to LED....Easy?

I've just installed the daylight dimmable versions of the one linked above in my livingroom, where they replaced 50W halogens. I don't know if we just had especially poor halogens but the new bulbs seem quite a bit brighter - not just the colour but the amount of light. We replaced one bulb initially to see how it compared and the difference was very obvious. I suspect the wider beam is helping as our previous halogens only had a 36 degree beam, but they certainly seem a more than adequate swap to us.
Can't comment on longevity yet as we've not had them long enough!0 -

Not necessarily.
I replaced about 20 Halogens with MR16 led's and I have only had to exchange one transformer so far.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
I replaced our incandescent SES bulbs with LED ones in our kitchen, mainly because the SES were getting hard to source and I got fed up replacing blown ones. Just replaced my last one so all 4 are now LED. I went for warm white and although together they are apparently a bit brighter than what was there (30w vs 25w - as I said apparently) I can't really tell any difference as I've replaced them gradually.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Hi All
Well I have brought my LEDs and they are great. The ones which work on a standard switch are fine however I also have 4 on an arm which connects to a dimmer switch but i am now getting flicking LEDs.
I understand this is because I am using a leading edge dimmer switch and need to change to a trailing edge dimmer switch.
Is it as simple as just replacing the dimmer switch? Could I change it or is a job for a qualified electrician?
Many Thanks0 -
I changed out dimmer to a trailing edge yesterday -ours was a straight swap, the new one and the old one had the same markings internally so it was dead easy.0

Ok thanks so basically I could do it myself?
I am guessing i just need to turn electricity off.0 -

I am thinking of going for led but am unsure what brand/colour to get? Not keen on the blue light on some whilst others can look yellow.0

adandem -LED what? Spotlights? Are they GU10? What are you replacing? You're looking for 'warm white' which will be a colour temp of around 2700-3000K. 'Cool white' or 'Daylight white' would be the bluer colours.0
