why not if a car dealer wants to sell his own personal car why should he have to put it through the business rather than a private sale ?

Hole, well why would you do that, you'd use some chemical metal or something to bodge it for sale.
Perhaps a leak, which most £600 cars will have.


Maybe try and get your money back, threatening trading standards, independent mechanics report etc.

Even if he's a trader, it's your responsibility to get the car back to him and let him inspect, then his decision to repair, replace or refund.

I suspect he took it in px or something, fancied it as a runabout for himself for a while and at £800 it wasn't the kinda thing he would put on his forecourt. He did advertise it through his dealership on ebay but was upfront about it being a private sale.
