Screen not picking up signal from computer

Sorry, nothing to see here, I was giving advice on plugging into TVJustice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those affected (Benjamin Franklin) JFT96...YNWA0

I have seen this before and it turned out to be something embarrassingly simply. On occasion a PC will have 2 video cards - an onboard one normally higher up the case, and a seperate one fitted, normally lower.
If you plug into the onboard one by mistake it probably won't work so jsut check/move the cable if you can. The port is normally blue (VGA) or white (DVI).
Hi thank you. Yes the tower has two ports. Top one is not used. Port is blue.0 -
Sounds like graphics card on PC is knackered.
You need to try the PC with another known good monitor.
If you get no signal on that, you know the base unit has no video output.
If it's a separate graphics card, replace it. If it's graphics onboard the motherboard, you may need a new m/board....
Screen and cable are fine if I plug in to a different PC. Thank you.0 -

desktop= onboard video the plug will be horizontal orientated
desktop = video card the plug will be vertical orientated
tower= onboard video the plug will be vertical orientated
tower = video card the plug will be horizontally orientated
if it has a separate video card , you will be able to see which card the plug is connected to
there are lots of different fitting video cards
graphics cards and video cards are the same thing
Thank you. PC is a tower with the plug horizontal. Is the video card easy to change, any type work? Any advice you can give is very much appreciated. Thank you.0 -
lots of different types of video card that are not phisicly interchangeable , more info needed on the motherboard used in the computer , if you remove the side you will see a make/model number
ie: asus xyz123 v1.1
with this info someone will be able to check the boards spec and advise0 -

Thanks will take a look tonight. Just a thought would it be possible for it to have come loose to create this issue?0 -
Yes, that's a possibility... although unlikely.RaiderHammer wrote: »Just a thought would it be possible for it to have come loose to create this issue?0 -
I have the tower open but not sure how the video card comes out. I can remove it a little from the motherboard but looks like the plate attached to the back of the PC needs to come off first. Not sure how though. Looks like there is a metal plate that needs to be released from the back somehow but can't see any screws???0

Knowing what computer model you have is usually a good start.
It narrows down the field a bit.The more I live, the more I learn.
The more I learn, the more I grow.
The more I grow, the more I see.
The more I see, the more I know.
The more I know, the more I see,
How little I know.!!
