    Interesting - your posts prompted me to try my 2005 vintage Canon IP4200 inkjet and it's successfully printed an OpenOffice document.Phew!

    I would guess there is a bigger user base for the Pixma, it's quite a popular photo printer, the one thing in its favour is its just a printer not a multi function job.
