Which tablet / I-pad?

I had a samsung galaxy tab 3 hoping it would be useful on trains using wifi data not my own. This proved to be a non starter. Sold it bought ipad and on first journey, viewed stuff saved to "view off line", then experimented and discovered I was on-line using the rail network wifi.
I have since been told that ipads connect more easily then others and ipads don't require antivirus.
If you think differently, don't shoot me, I'm only telling you what I've been told and accept.
Got Samsung Tab 3 8 inch myself and never bother trying to connect to train Wifi - for one thing you have to pay for train wifi.
I have never had trouble with the wifi on it, on a moving train - it could be the actual signal - not the device.
The Lenovo Yoga 2/3 - convertible laptop/tablet are the ones I fancy getting once I get bored with the Tab 3. For several reasons including build quality, windows OS (if you need office).
The ipad would be an option if it werent so backward as not having a memory slot (and Apple fleecing people for every extra 16gb). Having a iphone 5s (big mistake) - I had to jailbreak to make it more functional and to be able to use the touch button in the manner I need it to do.
Android devices offer 3 touch buttons to do different tasks like unlocking the screen, navigation - going to settings. Apple is stuck with its idiotic one button - press press press nonsense.
HTC designed Google nexus is also one to look at.0 -
I have been after a tablet type thing for ages but everything out there just baffles me, I go, I look, I choose one, I talk myself out of it in case its the wrong one.
I travel a fair bit by train (just UK) and am sick of lugging around my laptop.
I need it to:
a) Be able to have an app to watch TV mainly US shows that aren't on here, I cant wait for the new series or that Sky sucked me into watching 8 series then stop showing
b) Email, general internet stuff, Facebook etc.
c) Music (probably not a huge amount)
and if at all possible
d) able to run Lightroom and be suitable for quick and basic editing and hold a memory card full of photos
Any ideas?
d) Is a perfect world option am I pushing it a bit?
I don't want to spend more than £300
Thanks

Depending on how you watch these TV shows, you might be using Flash, which realistically knocks iOS and Android out. There are lots of cheap 8" Windows8 tablets out there now, I've got the Toshiba Encore, and it's great to have a 'real' computer in such a tiny package, and under £200! You can spend more on bigger and more powerful devices, IMO the Surface is the best if you stretch to around £600. You can then do every single thing your current laptop does.0

I have to admit I hadn't thought about getting a windows tablet, mainly because I have a windows phone and I detest it immensely, and cant wait until I can be rid of it.0

Your Windows phone isn't actually Windows of course (yet!). If you get a proper Windows 8 (and 8.1) tablet (not RT) you can run everything your desktop PC can, because it's the same (desktop) OS. You'll be familiar with the Live Tiles but that's about it!0
