forget it now the son has tampered with the vehicle and thus he has a get out, that the fault was created by the son and not that it was sold in that condition, as there was no test either it will be very difficult to prove the condition of the engine was like that when he bought it and the son didn't create the fault through blanking off the EGR valve or what ever needed blacking off there will be evidence of his tampering under the bonnet greasy finger prints, moved bolts and a tin can cut out and a part missing etc.woolythoughts wrote: »Hi
It is a Black Jag Estate 05 plate
Neighbours son works in a garage and that was where it was taken but no thing in writing.
I have asked him to get the garage to specify the faults so I can include in my drafted letter - and enlighten the audience here.
I know last week he was trying tho make a blanking plate out of an old drinks can in order to blank out the alternate thing that could have been causing the problem
Turns out he didn't even test drive it
:-(
Never touch the vehicle or authorize repairs before the trader has had a chance to look at it, authorize Inspection and report only as this is only to visually check condition and diagnosis from pulled ecu fault codes that a mechanic can reasonably and competently say that is the issue.0 -
I want to know what you do to valves to shut them up for 3 days.0

Oil stabilizer fluid. its a thick as hell and when you drain a litre of oil and fill a litre of that fluid in it will quiet most rattles and knocks for a good few hours or even a few days.JustinR1979 wrote: »I want to know what you do to valves to shut them up for 3 days.

I think when to op said it was the valves, you assumed as i did it was the engine valves
but we are one and a half pages in and we still dont know what the problem is, I have never seen a repair/bodge carried out on engine valves with a drinks can :rotfl::rotfl:
I was right about jaguar fitting the wheels to this mondeo0 -

05 models don't suffer that thoughDoctorFoster wrote: »Are they prone to the braking system failing completely too?

no it gets absorbed into the existing oil but it takes a while to get into the oil completely, but whilst its still in its gloopy form, it will quit the things down.JustinR1979 wrote: »And then it magically goes thin?0 -
Increase oil life at least 50% longer
Reduces oil consumption
Eliminates dry starts
Raises oil pressure
Increases power and miles per gallon
Wow, why doesn't everyone use this miracle in a bottle?
Do they use this in F1 engines, and that's why they have to warm them before starting, it's this making the oil so thick the engine won't turn over when cold?0
