Paris honeymoon - help

We are due to be married next year, and OH would really like to visit Paris if only for a few nights.
Popping in to Thomas cook, the girl behind the counter had no idea, instead repeated the wording off their website (gee thanks, like I couldn't of done that myself) when pressed to send more details in the post - didn't.
Thomson's staff had no brochures and no idea when they would again, so not a lot of help there, and trip advisor seems to have hugely contradictory reviews.
With so many hotels and not being get any help in person, I wondered if the MSE'ers had been in the French capitol recently and had any pointers.
Basically we are looking for a nice little hotel that is, near enough to the things we want to see (tower mainly and a caf!).
We are paying for the wedding ourselves so cost will have to come into it.

If you love bustling cities and like nightlife Paris is amazing. If you intend going in August, personally I would get out of Paris and go somewhere like Beauvais.
It is an hour from Paris so a day/evening trip is easy; has lovely architecture in its own right a some good cafe/restaurants, some with rooms.
Oh and a good market.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
We spent 3 nights in Paris for our Honeymoon in 2011. We stayed in a Hilton in Zone VII that my husband found online (I think it was a Hilton). We got a weekly ticket for the metro and travelled wherever we wanted quickly.
I don't have any recommendations for a hotel that is central (someone will hopefully be along soon for you), but I would recommend looking a little further out too if cost is important. The hotels are a little cheaper, but travel to the centre is easy.
As an aside, I recommend you visit Mood on the Champs Elysees for a meal. It doesn't look a lot from the outside, but a Parisan friend recommended it to me, and it was absolutely amazing.
EDIT - It was a Marriott we stayed at (whoops!). My husband booked it on one of the sites where you don't know which hotel you are getting until you've booked, so it wasn't the most romantic hotel in the world, but I didn't care!Married my wonderful husband 31st July 2011 :j
Baby boy born April 2013 - and 2 became 3!

I'd look at staying around Saint Michel/Latin Quarter. It's a nice area with lot's of little bars are restaurants. Not too far from most of the main tourist attractions with easy Metro links to the further afield places of interest.
Can't help on romantic hotel options as normally I'm over on business or by myself, so happy to sleep in the cheaper hotels.0 -
Here's your starter for ten - Beausejour in Montmartre. Now get googling and create your own package.;).................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
Can either of you speak any French? The report button is for abusive posts, not because you don't like someone, or their opinions0

I stayed at the hotel Auteuil Tour Eiffel in the 16th Arrondisement. It's very close to the Eiffel Tower (walking distance if you don't mind a saunter) . About 10-15 minutes walk from several metro stations. It was lovely with good facilities and helpful staff
Hope that helps.0 -
I second the Latin quarter it is really lovely.0

I stayed at Les Jardins du Marais in the Marais and near the Bastille in August. It was metres from the metro, lots of bars etc nearby. Just bought a carnet for us both to use and you could get about easily.
Lovely hotel that we got very cheaply from one of the sites like booking.com. The published rates are very pricey but we got 3 nights in a Superior room for under £300.
There was a lovely market nearby on the Sunday and it was nice and different area to stay in. Detested Monmartre: beware gangs of girls trying to get you to sign petitions as they actually want cash!MFW 2019#24 £9474.89/£11000 MFW 2018#24 £23025.41/£15000
