Day 2 of the holidays - what are you doing today?
We have tidied out DD's wardrobe and taken out the things she has grown out of (ready to ebay or give away).
Next, we are going to buy some washing liquid and have a drive down to the river while we are out. We don't live too far from the river and we are on a flood warning so I want to check how high the water is getting.
When we get home DD will play out with her friend in the street until dinner time. While I do the laundry and cook dinner. (Hopefully, I won't need to start moving furniture upstairs!)
Then this evening we are going to a Samba workshop. That will be great fun. We are looking forward to that.Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.

really wish i could enjoy the hols with my kids.
we have had quite a good day today and went to the local park but as my kids are 11, 8 and 4 they don't all want to do the same things. i posted before about there being nothing to do in my area and i don't drive so i have a lot of guilt about not being able to nip my kids off somewhere for a couple of hours.
would love it all to be relaxed and everyone happy and finding things to amuse themselves, but the reality is the kids bickering and wanting to just watch tv or go on the pc/nintendo.now mum of 4!!!0 -
I love the school holidays too! We usually so loads together just the two of us but its harder this year as im 9 months pregnant!! Junior is due today!
I hate hearing the other parents at nursery complaining that they are off for 6 weeks and what will they do with them! I like lazing about with DS, watching dvds, cuddling up in bed with a book, baking, he even likes to help me clean!!! I get more upset putting him back then when they finish!
This is the start of DS's 3rd week for us so its flying by already!Bringing up 2 handsome boys and 1 gorgeous girl the MSE way!Joseph born 19th December 2001Matthew born 8th August 2007Tara born 23rd January 20110 -

Have you tried YOU finding things to amuse THEM? There is a 13 year gap between my children, the big one has left home now, but we always manage to find things to do as a family. Each one knows that there has to be give and take in a family.
Have you tried making play-dough? My nine year old loves it and so does her eleven year old friend. I remember they have enjoyed it ever since they were toddlers. During the last school holiday I made a big batch of it then divided it into several smaller batches and died each one a different colour. The kids spent a whole afternoon making play-dough food and putting it on picnic plates. They made sausages, chips, peas, fried eggs, bacon, pizza, baked beans, swiss rolls. We took photos of each plate of food and on the photos it looks like real food.
What about making a scarecrow with your children? That is great fun, and something to do outside so they get some fresh air.
Do your children have bikes? Could you cycle to the park and let them run off some energy while you are there?
If you need help to think of something to do with your childeren you will get plenty of help here. They won't know how to amuse themselves if they have never learned.Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.

I also add a few drops of essential oil as well. It makes it smell nicer.
At Christmas I add glitter.Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.

this is my last summer before DD starts school so i want to make the most of it, i live in a flat so have no garden and horrible moaning neighbours so i find it hard to do active stuff inside.
I will be making some cakes with them tomorrow morning and my DD saw on tikkabilla how to make a skittle ball so we'll be doing that too. In the afternoon we will be going to my mums for tea so hopefully they can run around in the garden (fingers crossed it'll stop raining for an hour or so)
I think this year i am going to do a day to day plan so not to get stuck in a rut of doing nothing most of the day.
another plus side is i live right next to a massive woods so one day i want to take a picnic and some supplies and spend the whole day just exploring the woods.Other women want a boob job. Honey the only silicone i'm interested in is on a 12 cup muffin tray, preferably shaped like little hearts

I just love the holidays too. Always have an my eldest is now 17. Great having the kids all to yourself for a few weeks.
This last year I have worked at school too so this year not only have the kids got six weeks off but I have too - how fabulous is that.
I have made a chart of the six weeks with a seven days on each row ( so six down and seven across) and we have put all our activities etc on there.
We have still quite a few blank days but these will be filled with beach park playing with friends etc..
I love the relaxing time scale of everything rather than all that rushing around - still in pjs with coffee at 9.30 etc.
Hope you all have a fab holiday too.0
