I Love School Holidays.

I
school holidays.
I'm not a teacher. I'm not a school child. I'm just an ordinary mum who loves school holidays.
Today is the first day of the holidays. We have had a little lie-in, got up and had a leisurely breakfast. Then I had a nice shower while my daughter made a treasure box out of a washing tablets box, some PVA glue, tissue paper and sequins.
This afternoon I will have a bit of a tidy up while DD cuts out the money-off coupons out of the leaflets and magazines that I have been saving. Then we will take the dog for a bike ride to the park if it stays fine. If it rains we will bake some bread with the ingredients from the larder instead.
Later on we will watch the video of Sound of Music while we wait for DD's friend to return from her weekend away. When the friend gets back DD will probably play out in the street (or if it rains they can play in my house). Then we will have a late dinner before DD has a bath and gets ready for bed.
And the total cost of the whole day is £0.
I won't use the car. I won't have to pay for any school trips, collections for leaving presents, wedding presents etc. I won't be pressurised to buy anything I don't need to support the school.
Last week in the school playground I could hear parents complaining that the children were off for 6 weeks. I love it.
Am I odd?

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.

Is that what you do Hapless? I considered it when DD was refused a place at the school we chose for her. Luckily we appealed and won, so she will be starting there in September.Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.

I like school holidays - everything is nice and relaxed, and there's loads of time to do stuff.
Pity about the rubbish weather we have been getting though - it does limit things a bit.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. PS - Just as a suggestion as you both enjoy spending time together - why don't you start a memory box - get her to write bits down about what you've done together because once she's all grown up it will be lovely for you both to look back on0 -

yup, and we go off to museums and animal parks using our Education Otherwise discounts, go shopping during the week, take holidays in term time, spend days drawing or creating, watch DVD's such as walking with dinosaurs or Coast or similar. They do cooking (weights and measures and chemistry) helping with shopping (budgeting, meal planning and maths again), gardening (biology, environmental science, horticulture, agriculture and chemistry again) making homemade furniture (from scrap wood), candles, clothes, soaps etc (a bit od OS too) etc. Because we don't have school expenses our kids have such a book collection, more than me!
Eldest (9) goes to Saturday pottery (term time only) and thurs eve fencing classes (others will no doubt follow). The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

Yes I have a son who's nearly 17 so days of sticky tape and glue are long gone lol. You're more likely to find him taking his Pc apart these days - my help would be of no use whatsoever!!
I think I'm more jealous as you have a girl so can do more girly things with her than any things you can do with a boy. I definately have "empty nest syndrome " at the moment! You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0
