School holidays are good and bad in this house. Firstly my little one (3) sobbed her heart out this morning as her pre-school finished on Friday whereas 'big school' doesn't finish till Wednesday. Both my kids love going to school and don't enjoy the holidays as much as they should. I remember counting the days down till the holidays so I could go out and play all day but at the moment the kids can't go out and play because of the weather and I feel mine are too little to be let out to play in the street. They do however love playing in the garden and doing creative exercises so that's what we've got planned - lots of sticking, drawing, painting, baking, etc..... but if the weather ever clears up we shall be heading to the park for picnics and bike rides. Shame daddy's have to work!!

Is it too early to start on the Xmas cards?

Oh I so wish I could be at home for the school holidays! I just posted my work dilemma up on the board, I'm fed up with working full time and would love to get involved with the kids during the day rather than when I come home from work and they're all tetchy cos it's nearly bedtime :(

Well done you on being such a fantastic parent :T people can learn such a lot from you. There are parents I know that sit around all day doing nothing and leave their kids in front of the telly

Just wanted to say well done!

I love the school holidays, although the first day of the holidays was friday so I took my 2 dd's to the cinema and ended up stranded due to the floods. y the rest of their time off will be better.

I love sitting down with them and painting and doing crafts. This summer we will be keeping a scrapbook of all the things we do so they can show their teachers when they go back to school.
  • We have just put on the Sound of Music video ( Doesn't Julie Andrews look young?). We are going to multi-task. DD has got the coffee table covered in newspaper and set up in front of the television. She is making a welcome home card to give to her friend when she gets home. I am going to start preparing a casserole ready for dinner while I listen to the Sound of Music from the kitchen.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in. :D

I love school holidays too although I am a teacher as well. We had a bit of a lie-in, long leisurely cuddle and story before getting up. Leisurely breakfast. We went to buy a birthday present in town. This afternoon has involved a lot of glue, glitter and coloured pom poms. I know I will find glitter for days, weeks even but it is worth the lovely happy face at spending time with mum. Eveb at weekends we are usually busy with household stuff, sporting things and birthday parties.

ohhhhh I really miss the school holidays with my children, lazy days fruit picking, a day at the park, bike rides, days out to the seaside, canoeing, picnics, museums, so many art and craft activities (masses of books in the librabry for ideas), swimming, cinema, fishing, dvd afternoons with the curtains closed and a bucket of popcorn, painting, gardening, even washing the car was always made fun, treasure hunts, obstacle courses, friends around for the day, rounders matches, scrapbooks, diaries, making their own dvds by performing acts/plays, paddling pools out, ........ *dreaming* we've had some fantastic times and like you I absolutely loved them. My children are all older now and I really miss those times. :(
