    Ahhh! I really want to use the council tax money to pay off my debts but think I should leave it in the bank in case the garage chase me for the invoice before pay day! Just want to get these debts gone as fast as possible! I know it only means me moving it from one account to another (going to use it towards OD and beds) but I wont count it until its in the right place!

    I am loving the use of my boss' washing machine! Two weeks worth of not using my machine should make a difference to my bills even if not by a lot. Did use an electric heater for a couple of hours last night due to not having central heating at the moment - I cant handle 11 degrees inside even with my dressing gown over my clothes!

    Right I'm off to read Martin's latest email!

    Forgive me for I have sinned... I used my credit card :(

    My OH has been rained off today so I let him convince me (okay maybe I should take some responsibility but he isn't here to defend himself!) to buy some paint etc so that he can crack on with some decorating rather than waste the day. However the house fund has dried up so I had to put it (it being £50.10) on the CC but he will give it back to me tomorrow so I can put it in the bank on Saturday and pay it straight off again. I could have moved some money around (i.e. the £130 council tax money) but 1. I didn't want to use it all towards the house although was planning to use £30 of it towards this and the rest towards debt busting, 2. I had told him (in a feeble attempt to refuse) we didn't have any money for it so didn't then want to say yes we do.

    Never mind - at least it hasn't been wasted on rubbish and will be paid straight off.

    Oh and I also found a bottle of Mr Muscle plug unblocker stuff in the car park which I looked up and it costs £4.98 in the shop! May come in handy at some point. My OH has started calling me a magpie!

  • It will probably save you money in the long run as you are going to have to redecorate at some point anyway.

    I am unable to keep track of all my savings. I have been putting loose change and £2 coins into a sealed pot. It doesn't have a window or anything so my OH can't see just how much I am putting in it. Neither can I to be honest. I think there must be getting on towards £20.00 in there. I know that doesn't seem much but we want to go camping in September and the site we stay on costs £15 per night so it would be one night's stay at the very least :)

    You are doing so well Twiggy. Honestly wish I could be paying off more. I tell myself that I need to be more strict. Your diary keeps me on the straight and narrow :)

    Have a good day.

    Thanks October.

    Not a great (moneywise) weekend but could have been worse. Started on Friday with OH not working as his boss decided to have the day off to spend with his kids and also decided not to pay him. Then my OH lost his phone walking the dog! However I went aimlessly wondering around the field in the dark whilst phoning it and actually found it! Disaster averted! OH's boss did pay him on Saturday but he only ended up working 2 days last week so didn't get paid much. Meaning he couldn't give me the money to pay off the CC. Grrr! However it's not due until... (wait whilst I actually check the date...) 5 March, so hopefully he'll manage to work this week so I can pay it next weekend. I know it's my house too but he insists he pays and I would have waited until we had the money before buying the paint.

    I did have a nice day on Saturday though. Helped my friend move and then went to the cinema with a bunch of friends and then was meant to go for dinner but most couldn't make it so had a takeaway with my best friend and her parents (who I class as my second parents). Whilst it was nice to go out with my friends the film was a waste of money! (50 shades - what a load of rubbish!!)

    It's pay day Wednesday! Have a lot to pay out for this month though so it will hinder my debt busting! However I still have this months council tax in the bank which I'm debating using to cover the spend on the CC but I would like to stick to my original plan of using £75 towards beds, £25 towards OD and £30 to the house pot.

    I had to pop to Mr T first thing yesterday to get coffee (OH cant function until he's had at least 2!). On the self serve was a receipt with 2 unclaimed clubcard points so I thought I'd womble it away. When I went to upload it to checkout smart I noticed that there was an offer on 35p for Redcow and the receipt said energy drink so I thought I'd try claim it - and it worked! All these little bits through those apps are really adding up!

    I'm also within my grocery budget for the month with just over £20 left - and my shopping month ends on Thursday! Whilst I'm sure I still spend more than others it's really good for me! Before I had £100 a week, although I never spent it all and used whatever was left to top up the house pot, so I reckon I spent £60-£75 a week (which was a decrease on what I was spending pre-LBM!) I've now been adding £50 a week to my food pot but kept any left from the previous week in there. So £250 for 5 weeks with £20 left - which I'll clear out of there into the house pot and start again. That does include dog food, cleaning products, toiletries etc. Maybe I'll do £50 again this month and see if I'm brave enough to cut it to £40 the following month. It's my OH's coffee which adds up but apparently he'll only have that one! Maybe I'll buy a cheap one but put it in the expensive jar and see if he says anything!

    Ok, I've rambled on quite enough for a Monday morning!

    Pay day today! Will do a (probably long and rambling) post later but I think I can pay off £746.04 this month! This is using money left over from this month in a few pots, wages and money from house/dog sitting! I will double check all my figures before I pay anything off as I can't believe it's this much bearing in mind I've got to pay for my car repairs and car tax!

    So I confused myself in working out what I was paying - so apologies if the following makes no sense!

    Lets start off simple - I've cleared my Next!!! :j I did say I wasn't going to do this until after the beds and overdraft were cleared but I changed my mind as I've managed to clear a lot off them too, so not feeling the pressure (she says!)

    So I had the following left over from last month:-
    * £23.36 in my petrol pot - so that's gone off the OD
    * £130.93 (council tax) in my bills pot - so £30 went to the house fund, £25 off OD and £75 off beds (well actually £230.93 but I leave £100 buffer in there)
    * £55.18 in my current account (plus OH owes me £25) - so £5.51 went off OD and £50 off beds

    From my wages I paid off:-
    * £72.50 off CC
    * £69.60 off Next (which clears that debt :j)
    * £80 to my parents
    * £45 off OD
    * £100 off beds

    I also received £150 for house sitting so £75 went off OD and £75 off beds.

    Plus I got £20.25 in petrol expenses for the month which went off the OD.

    And £1.70 from Quidco - so that went off OD.

    So that means I paid off in total the following:-
    * £72.50 off CC
    * £69.60 off Next
    * £80 to my parents
    * £196.42 off the OD
    * £300 off the beds
    TOTAL - £718.52 :j

    So that leaves the following debt amounts:-
    * CC - £5,750.54
    * Next - £0 :j
    * Parents - £226.96
    * OD - £128.81
    * Beds - £55
    TOTAL - £6,161.31

    I'm very happy with all the extras that I was able to pay off as I didn't think I was going to pay off much this month as paid £210 for my car repairs and £180 car tax!

    I really do appreciate how lucky I am to have the money to pay this off when I read others diaries who are really struggling even to meet the minimums. It does make me feel that I don't belong on here but this helps keep me on the straight and narrow so I do need to keep it up.

    I'm also very lucky that I spoke to my mum earlier who told me my dad had said not to worry paying back anymore as it was only £300ish. I told her quite sternly that I actually should have owed them a lot more to start with which they hadn't included so I would be paying them back. Dad bought lots of bits and pieces when he was working on the house and I know he didn't include them all in the original total. Yes I could use it towards the other debts but they've done so much for me (not just financially) that I really want to pay them back - although mum feels guilty taking my money! So I still paid them £80 today - only 3 more payments to them left!

    Can't wait until next month when the beds and OD will be gone so it will only be 2 more payments to parents and the CC!

    Oh and in case anyone was wondering - I've added £70 to the house pot so if OH can't give me the money to pay off what was spent on CC last week, I will use that before the next statement date.
