Thankyou espresso - tried both before I guessed the SD one no longer cut mustard.

Details of one presently in: puremedia/for today's digital lifestyles. SDHC. SDXC.

4GB mc was bought from Mr T at same time as camera[offer on double pack at time, more than adequate for my usage].

Sept village mag reported result of us all signing online for funding share to improve comms to village, very pocket-y in reception, not brill. anywhere. Entering home postcode shows 'due for consideration for possible investigation: Dec 2015' - so no improvement any time soon:-)

That said, holes were dug, quickly becoming flappy-ribboned mudslides for weeks. Then several green boxes appeared in main street, which may mean sthg, just not yet. &squat is not on main street.

Regarding my earlier post .... I was making a general comment (based on what you had posted) that IF you were to send me an email with an attachment then I'd be wary of opening it ... I'd be concerned the attachment was infected. As such I'm suggesting you make sure your PC is clean before you try to email/copy pictures to someone else. :)

    Your post is confusing!

You can still use an old SD card in your new camera. If you are saying that your card reader does not work with both SD and SDHC cards, then it may now be faulty. You can check your USB ports to eliminate a USB problem with another USB device e.g. Flash drive, external hard drive that you use for your backups etc.

Details of one presently in: puremedia/for today's digital lifestyles. SDHC. SDXC.

SDXC are cards greater than 32GB!

Whatever problems you may be having with your internet connection, this should not affect your PC reading USB devices like your card reader.

Try a £2 card reader e.g. like I posted previously.

    Thankyou again espresso.
    re:

I don't use it in my camera at all. It is the adaptor I [used to] use in the hard drive.

Will try later - no time now.

Okay , more of this, with phone and putah both going on and off for several hrs with gonzalo[latest excuse]
-and now I understand what you meant espresso:-)))

See below, if you can bear it.

Spoke to Canon, eventually referred to microsoft Ellison[in Estonia] re:drivers to detect camera on windows xp[no longer supported, but I knew this]. Said he would send links, 'although this transgresses beyond our service boundary since two thousand twelve'. Nil rcvd yet. Referred me back to Canon.

Eddie - nr Amsterdam - excellent attitude, service level 2 being raised[3-5 days for reply is OK. Have Spitalfields to do demain, jeudi], but still no solution. Logs show it is a known prob. Says it is morally wrong. Will try to have correct lead sent out but is not sure this will work.

So, &still has no pics upload.

Eddie says SD only mc's will upload - and you, espresso, were there ahead of him. These are cheap enough, will have maybe 200 shot capacity so I can have a couple of spares.

Suppose I can go to Cambs Central Library and email all pics from this new mc back to self, just to have them somehow.

Thanks for the update, you do seem to be making progress now.

I have used many different cameras from Olympus, Sony, Cannon and Nikon on my XP PC's and have never needed to load a single driver.

I hope that they do send you a USB cable as promised and that should sort you out but I also believe that a cheap USB card reader that works with SDHC cards for a couple of quid would work just fine.

One of my camera memory cards is 8GB and this will not read in the built in card reader on one of my PC's but it reads just fine in my netbook, so I either use a cable or the netbook when I use that larger capacity card.

    Again, my thanks espresso -

A point. Eddie specifically said 'onlySD cards, not sdhc'.
Also, he wants his dad's xp 'frame, because it is the most stable system that's yet been built. And it can be re-built, built on, modified and it will never let you down and it isn't so hacker-friendly as so many new systems. Or maybe it's because that's what hackers can more easily target...not something older.....Oh, I am sorry Ms &.''

He was a decent young fella.

Won't even broach topic of the never yet used laptop, bought to take and use in NZ last April - didn't. It's still here, pristine, sitting up behind me on the Canon printer.....ah well, one day maybe. It won't even start up here,.
