  • Herbalife always had a shady reputation under founder and former CEO Mark Hughes, but Hughes passed away at the age of only 44 and was replaced by Michael O Johnson, and since then Johnson has taken huge steps to restore Herbalife's legitimacy and improve their reputation. He established a nutritional advisory board with Nobel winning scientist Louis Ignarro at its helm, and the products are now underpinned by some industry leading science. On top of sponsoring the LA Galaxy they also sponsor Barcelona in Spain, as well as a number of other (mainly Amercian) athlethes including a top Indy Car driver.

The allegations about Herbalife also being a pyramid scheme, since a pyramid scheme is specifically something where the company is built almost entirely on recruiting people into your business, rather than on selling the product. With Herbalife, this is not the case, as Johnson's investment in the company prove. Tey visiting a website called ExplosiveMLM.com, they have a number of reviews (both good and bad) which are very helpful if you want to decide for yourself about Herbalife.

This firm really annoys me. My other half has been buying this over-priced crap for the last two years from a friend of his. I can't find out if he really believes all the marketing !!!!! or if he just can't say no to his friend. Grrrrrrr.
Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.
  • I don't think your problem is with Herbalife, your problem appears to be with nutritional and weight-loss supplements in general. As far as these type of products go, Herbalife is the industry leader, so its harsh to call their products 'over-priced crap'. They have a nutritional advisory board which boasts Nobel Prize-winning scientist Louis Ignarro, and their products are all independently tested to ensure they comply with the law. They are no different in this respect to other products like weight-watchers, or protein shakes that people buy when they are training for example. I can see why these type of products wouldn't appeal to you in general, but if your friend is going to use anything he's as well using a tried and tested product with a solid scientific base underpinning it.

I As far as these type of products go, Herbalife is the industry leader, so its harsh to call their products 'over-priced crap'. By 'industry leader' do you mean, biggest purveyor of over-priced crap???

They have a nutritional advisory board which boasts Nobel Prize-winning scientist Louis Ignarro, and their products are all independently tested to ensure they comply with the law. So Lousi Ignarro has sold his soul to the devil. Just beacuse something complies with the law, doesn't mean it's not a scam or over-priced crap with no genuine benefit for it's junkies, sorry buyers.

They are no different in this respect to other products like weight-watchers, or protein shakes that people buy when they are training for example. I agree, these are over-price crap as well.

...he's as well using a tried and tested product with a solid scientific base underpinning it.Typical MLM bunkum, pseudo-scince quackery.

In summary, a companyt selling over-priced crap whilst spending a fortune [hence the rip-off prices] to buy a semblence of a veneer of respectability.

Well, if it pays so much why are these signs always on c****y old cars which probably aren't worth £500...:rotfl:

To all the people who believe herbalife is a scam and the products are no good. I am a fully qualified personal trainer and nutritional consultant with 16yrs experience in health and fitness. Specialising in particular in womens weight loss. Herbalife has helped hundereds of my clients lose weight long term when used in conjunction with a sensible exercise programme and lifestyle changes. It's not a magic wand but it most definatley does work. In terms of price I hardly think with servings from £1.30 it qualifies as overpriced. There is no scam here and I certainly have not recruited anybody else. Oh yes and not many pyramid schemes are listed on NYSE in addition forget David Beckham, F.C Barcelona also have now got a sponsor deal with Herbalife in particular lionel messi. These don't happen with scam companies and over priced non working products. THINK ABOUT IT! one of the number one sporting teams in the world associated with a scam company wearing their logo on their football shirts. The bad name comes from people who want miracles for doing nothing. This includes weight loss and the business oppurtunity.

Gee, a newbie who registers solely to tell us Herbalife is brilliant. What a coincidence.
