Like Morrisons they are a last century company that refuses to change with the times.
People don't want gimmicks, loyalty cards or stamp schemes just low prices and simple clear labelling .
How have sainsburys shot themselves in the foot if they're claiming to do what you say people want? They're lowering the "gimmick" of loyalty points and claiming in their most recent ads to lower prices and matching deals.0 -
I personally want both. I want competitive prices and reward for loyalty, in the absence of that I'm happy to suffer the "chaos" of Aldi.0

If they did away with all the gimmicks and lowered prices then that would be fine . To just cut the value of a points scheme means they will annoy customers and decrease footfall in their stores .
Is that simple enough for you to understand or shall I get my 4 year old Granddaughter to explain in even simpler terms ?0 -
I've had a Nectar card for years and have been collecting points. Admittedly I don't shop there often (more Asda or Tesco) but today went to Sainsbury and decided to spend my points (about £30) - No Can Do!!!
I have to go back to the home store that I got the card from (no idea) or the store I usually shop in (totally random Sainsburys shopper) so not much luck. Went to customer services who called 'someone'. They eventually said I could use my points, but only some of them!!! In fact they said they'd take £2.35 off my £40 shop???!!!!!!!!
Have come back to the office and tried to call Sainsbury to get it sorted to no avail.
Note to self: Shop in Tesco or Asda - much easier and less stressful!
They don't store the number of points you have on the server within the store for every customer, when you do a shop they get downloaded overnight so if you go back to the same store tomorrow it should let you spend points. They then keep track of your points in that store for around 6 months.
Its a silly system and many people get caught out by it, I don't know why they don't talk to Nectar systems live unless there is some sort of speed issue.0 -
Not really, I have loyalty cards for most stores I use, it does not make me loyal to any store ( I tend to grocery shop in Asda who don't do a card), just means where ever I shop I get something back eventually.
They have an Asda credit card instead, which gives them a whole load of information !!
Any way, I have one of those, because I primarily shop at Asda, and Im trying to see if the Santander 123 card is going to be worth it for me
I have one Capital One card that I use exclusively for fuel/trains, and my Asda card taht I use exclusively at supermarkets (So I can gauge exactly how much I spend). Though going on a little tangent there0 -

I agree with that and it occurred to me that out it's good of them to give 6 months notice so that people can try out Aldi and Lidl and decide which suits them best.;)0 -

If I potentially can't use my points on my rare visits to Sainsburys, that's one more reason not to bother with them. I've only redeemed at Argos. Can't help feeling that our Sainsburys/Nectar days are almost over.0 -
There was a lady in Sainsbury's this morning trying to get people to sign up to Nectar. I bet she wasn't telling people about the upcoming changes!0

Wow insults what a brave person you are :rotfl: Maybe your four year old granddaughter can explain sainsburys latest advertising campaign to you - where they claim to be lowering pricing .
So like I pointed out you contradicted yourself in your own post :rotfl: but like I mentioned in mine, some customers want lower prices AND the "gimmick" of being rewarded for loyalty.0
