Sainsburys now price match against Asda which is fine if you have one near you, but my nearest Asda is nearly 6 miles away.
So unless they're including petrol costs and time in the price match, it's meaningless !!
btw the last time I used Tesco, I spent £12 and the pricematch voucher was for over £3, which in effect meant it had cost me 30% more to shop there !!

I find I'm buying fewer and fewer things in Sainsburys. Their prices aren't competitive anymore. They've just given me another reason not to go there.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

Sainsburys have shot themselves in the foot with this .

Like Morrisons they are a last century company that refuses to change with the times.

People don't want gimmicks, loyalty cards or stamp schemes just low prices and simple clear labelling .

I have shopped at Sainsburys for most of my life but latter years only for a top up shop. I tend to use Aldi which has excellent fresh vegtables, fruit and salad, plus other good produce. The prices are very good and unlike other supermarkets of which Sainsburys is one, do not keep putting up their prices. The big boys really do seem to not get it, that they are no longer the main players in the supermarket shop. I cannot see this move will encourage people to shop with them. I think it will do the opposite, and more shoppers will drift towards Aldi and Lidl. You will need to spend a lot of money with Sainsburys to actually build up any credit with them, simply not worth the effort.
  • Reducing value of points and replacing with 'personalised and bonus points' is absolute rubbish as bonus points expire too quickly and personalised points so far have been on goods just purchased and won't need replacing within time span of supposed bonus or services/activities I will never use . Another con job from Sainsbury, sorry like your food and goods but tesco at least give me accumulating money off petrol evry month as well as points for loyalty and I don't have to spend an increasing weekly amount to qualify. Was a loyal Sainsbury customer for 20+ years but not now.
  • I've had a Nectar card for years and have been collecting points. Admittedly I don't shop there often (more Asda or Tesco) but today went to Sainsbury and decided to spend my points (about £30) - No Can Do!!!

I have to go back to the home store that I got the card from (no idea) or the store I usually shop in (totally random Sainsburys shopper) so not much luck. Went to customer services who called 'someone'. They eventually said I could use my points, but only some of them!!! In fact they said they'd take £2.35 off my £40 shop???!!!!!!!!

Have come back to the office and tried to call Sainsbury to get it sorted to no avail.

Note to self: Shop in Tesco or Asda - much easier and less stressful!

Ask them on facebook or twitter to sort it.

Strange - At Sainsbury's you can redeem in multiples of 500 points = £2.50.

Did you buy the £40 shop? Or anything? If so that store will be redesignated your "home" store and you'll be able to spend all the points now.
