Who would you buy a new sofa from?

Our current sofas were bought from Argos in 2001. They have done us well, but are on the way out.

Which company would you recommend that builds sofas to last?
Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

A local independent store -if you can find one

We bought our last sofa locally and indeed all our furniture since and they are fantastic. Delivery on the day they say and the one problem we had ( snagged cushion) was sorted on the basis of an emailed picture - free of charge

I picked up a second hand leather sofa on ebay. It's a Laura Ashley one, hardly any use, cost the buyer £2500 new and I got it for less than £500. I'm 100% sure it's better quality than anything I'd pick up in DFS/Furniture Village etc!

Personally I prefer not to use any of the big chains and watch out for the upselling products they try and flog you. A decent sofa shouldn't need such products just shows where the profit really is

Have twice bought from Furniture Village , last one has been in the house now for 11 years, nearly as good as the day we bought it.

If anyone had told me in 2001 these Argos sofas would survive 13 years and 3 house moves, I'd have laughed at you! I bought them on BOGOF - £400ish for 2 x 3 seaters.

We've got John Lewis sofas, one we've had for around 8 years and it looks as good as new and is still very comfy.

Site is full of horror stories about sofa's .
But a lot of it is down to the household, I sit on a sofa, but the kids seem to drop down, sit on the arms etc

DFS has a bad reputation , but has repeat buyers ???
Its probably true you get what you pay for.
If you can pick up the end of a three seat sofa with one hand, you know the weight tells you it wont last, but if its dirt cheap , maybe only a few years is all you want out of the suite.

Getting back to the OP , I wonder what the budget is.

Fairly cheap from Argos( they don't sell expensive) . lasting 13 plus years, I reckon, they should continue to buy something at the cheaper end of the market as they have shown they can care for the suite.

They can be bad on customer service, most companies with that many customers will have complaints, but, I've used them for over 40 years. They grew from a company called Hardy's near where I live.
There is nothing wrong with their top end stuff, just don't buy budget there.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

We've had M&S ones for a couple of months. Hardly used and foam is awful. Thankfully 50% paid for with vouchers won in competition but dreading the complaints procedure.
