TV Licence payment by post

Anyone know if you succumb to the demand for money with menaces by sending a cheque in an unstamped envelope if it will get there and be processed?

I certainly hope not. You can do it online or at the post office. No charge if you use a debit card. Why should other tax payers foot the bill for your ridiculous cheap skating and attempts to be awkward?

It will get there but the recipient will be offered to pay the cost of a stamp and a £1 'fine / admin' (whatever they call it), if they chose not to pay it then they will not get the letter.

Bit of a twisted way to go about things. Do or don't pay it. Question is, do you need one?

Well I'll be giving it a try anyway. I know it will be tough on everyone, especially the overpaid performers at the BBC, but I'm sure they could take a small pay cut to cover it.

Why not online? Simple. The clowns at TV Licensing have introduced the insecure and awkward Verified by Visa hurdle which you need to jump over to pay for a licence. So they can shove it, online.

By the way, you can't get it from the Post Office, and it's nothing to do with the tax payer.

    .

First I've heard of VBV being insecure, it's one of the easiest and most secure systems for proving payments are from the registered card holder.
The only way to realistically make it more secure is by two factor authentication, using something like the card reader that various banks give you, and that is much more hassle, as besides anything else you can't do it at all without the card reader.

IIRC virtually no cases of fraud have been reported where VBV has been in use, I know I've not read of any in any of the normal news channels.
Unlike CVV (which only proves you have the card, or a picture of both sides), or address checks (useless for many things, and very easy to bypass by a fraudster as it doesn't require any access to the original card).

Worried about online bank security but happy to put bank details with full address into an envelope and post it without a stamp, so will probably be bouncing around the mail for a good while.

You are putting way too much time and energy into achieving absoloutley nothing.

If you are so against TV licensing then don't get a licence. That'll teach 'em...oh don't watch live TV but there are so many options available now you really don't "need" live TV anyway. You could with your £145 create an alternative set up you could buy a computer, connect it to the internet which you obviously already have and connect it to the TV. You can then watch nearly everything currently shown on TV but with a short delay...as long as you're not watching as the same as it's broadcast you can watch it.
