Once you're an established freecycler, it's on in minutes. Until then, it awaits scrutiny by the mods.
My local freecycle group will not take me off moderation, it doesn't matter that I have made 3 successful offers (according to her I made one post stating the items had been taken wrongly) & that according to their own rules after the first time I should have been off moderation. An incredibly pedantic moderator instead is making it not seem worth the effort of trying to do the decent thing & offer items to others who genuinely seem to need them rather than just selling them & making a quick buck.

One of my groups is like that - the Mod Squad are incredibly pedantic, and by the time the posts get through, you wish you'd never bothered and sold the stuff at a carboot or taken it down to the Chariity shop.
Other groups are very different - a lot of it is down to the the local Mods.
I've given lots of stuff away, and had some nice stuff also.

I have now contacted my local charity shops to find out which ones collect items as I have loads & loads of stuff to giveaway (moving house & trying to streamline everything) - it was taking a ridiculous amount of time using Freecycle. It's such a shame though, as I would have liked to have directly benefited those who needed the items, but at least it will still end up going to a good cause in the long run.

Surely the moderators acting in such a way to those wanting to offer items is just ensuring the genuine people steer clear & it's mainly just the vultures wanting item after item who remain.

    Don't blame you!!
Yes - there are the serial grabbers on most freecycle groups, who sit waiting to pounce.

they have gone on now after i was sent emails asking me to change my title to show where i live even though they specifically stated 'morden'.

    they wanted the postcode.
Seriously? That's bizarre. In my local Freeshare (formerly Freecycle) group, they're a bit more sensible and just expect you to put your town, village or whatever in the heading, and they definitely don't encourage the inclusion of information as specific as postcodes. They don't require "wanted" posts to be preceded with "offered", but they do ask us to keep an eye on our ratio and try to make sure that our posts offering items outnumber the wanteds.
I do check my e-mails for Freeshare messages, but every so often, for some reason unbeknown to me, I don't get any for several days, then they just resume as normal.

That's been my experience too - they actively discourage people from putting in their full postcodes for safety and security issues.
It really does vary so much - some groups have a limit on the number of 'wanteds' offered e.g. 3 per month, many ban 'shopping lists', others don't seem to care one way or the other

My local freecycle is rather weird. I've had replies for offered posts before my post appears on the board. In other words the moderators pick out the good stuff for themselves before putting the messages on!
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J
