A huge thank you to everyone who's helped clear spam this morning - you really don't know how much you've helped by clicking the spam button!
The strange text happened when we put a spam-busting measure in and our techies are working on it so don't worry about that.
Here on the MSE Forum we fry up spam and make a MoneySaving omelette out of it

I see the posts keep appearing. Would it be feasible to reduce the number of times a post has to be reported as spam before it disappears?
And some other time, when things get back to normal, can you explain why some posts don't have a spam button (but do still have a report button).0 -
Andrea there is one on death and probate that's not been removed yet0

are mods mot able to remove (obvious) spam posts, unless its tagged by other users?Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
I think the problem is its a new user generated each time so would need to block all new users to stop the spam.0

Clearly still issues with the filter though as per the signature line above me but, with a board this size and this busy it is a blooming tough job to track.
If users help police the board then that's not a bad thing is it? Plus as we can see, it is appreciated. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

Yeah, all the ones I'm reporting as spam are the first ever posts of newly joined. MSE is responding very fast - reclicked on some and they're showing as Invalid only seconds after we're reporting them. Get after them, if you can.

This might sound obvious to MSE technical team but can you not block the IP addresses? Or are they using different proxy IPs each time?0

I read it and he appeared not to be selling or dvertising anything but making a complaint, does it not warrant someone senior looking Into it maybe?0
