Just explain what happened, show any paperwork to evidence you paid for it (bank statements) - this should be fine. They cant even lock up people that commit assaults/thefts etc so im sure he will be fine.

I think he has already been locked up and is due in court.

£270 sounds cheap for a car. What is if as we maybe looking at handling, what has he been charged with?

Your boyfriend will lose the car and any money.

Contact the officer investigating this - they would have taken a statement from your boyfriend if he is now required to go to court. If he has not been arrested/interviewed then he is being dealt with as a witness, not a suspect. Contacting the officer will resolve exactly what needs to go to court for.

Your boyfriend is a victim in this crime. So long as he acted in good faith, had insurance and MOT and other documents in place to drive the car, he has nothing to worry about. The prosecution need him to prove the theft and dishonesty on the part of the person who sold it.

If the price was suspiciously low, then your boyfriend could be accused of knowing it must have been stolen.

he had been charged by the police officer with driving a stolen car on public road and without insurance. the car have beed declared stolen a week and a half before the police stopped my boyfriend. when we bought the car we had all the car documents.
we payed so little because is not a great car. we had to pay the road tax 136.

There's not an offence of driving a stolen car as such. Read his charge sheet and let us know if it's taking without owners consent to theft.

The stolen part needs to be addressed before the now insurance. I assume he did take out insurance?

what is also strange is that the car had beed declared stolen 2 weeks after we bought it. that owner needed a long time to think and react...
