Probably not worth it, especially as it'll warm up next week.
If you drive too fast on Ice it doesn't make a lot of difference what you have on your wheels, or how many of those wheels are driven.
I remember telling that to the Master of the Exmoor Harriers when I found him in his Range Rover upside down in a ditch just a few moments after he had nearly driven me off the road when overtaking me on a bend.
I asked him if he was OK, he said yes, I said "shame"
Agreed, seems too late in the year IMO. People who drive rudely, especially in silly road conditions annoy me. We have a junction on a steep incline near here, seriously steep. People still gets right up your exhaust. I like watching people's faces as the hand rakes of cars in front of them struggle and fail or drivers fail and roll back a little.0 -
NHS/Social Care crisis going on across the road. The tiniest little old lady lives there. She went off in an emergency ambulance well over a month ago. It had been sat outside for about four hours before they left.
Last week, a transport ambulance tried to deliver her home. They brought her bags, zimmer frames and a wheelchair. Shortly after, they packed her back into the ambulance.
Yesterday, another transport ambulance delivered her home. This morning, she pottered out, bless her and was collected by someone (this is her usual routine, they look the right age to be her children). They brought her back about an hour ago, walking her down the path. Within five minutes, the emergency ambulance was back. They've wheeled her in on a chair and have been sitting there since.
Whoever collected her this morning has driven off. I can only see one house from my windows and it's directly in front of my office.
I feel incredibly bad for her, she is very frail and I'm not sure she should be alone at home. It's not the best use of emergency ambulances, either. Our town has just one and it has a lot of area to cover.
My very good friend tried to save the life of my in law's next door neighbour. Same age as Doozer, with a young child. He had a massive heart attack. My friend had been on shift in the next town, and dealing with a drunk in a third town when the call came. 'Our' ambulance was otherwise occupied. I'm not sure the poor man stood a chance, but it took longer than it should for them to get to him. He said it was the worst journey of his life - he thought it was Doozer. Not that it's any less bad that it was the lovely guy next door, but he thought he was racing from too far away to his daughter's godfather.
As I'm sitting here, I've been texted an appointment reminder for fracture clinic at the Children's Hospital. That's a good use of NHS resource.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I cannot say whether I am a good driver, but I am an absolutely dreadful passenger! No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

We had a covering of snow this morning. I sat up in bed and watched it falling thickly as OH got ready for work. DD set off in her i10 dressed suitably and with wellies in the car. She has done a skid pan course and has been 'stuck' on our road in the past so she is sensible. As it is , all snow is cleared except from our north facing roof.
OH is off to Pennsylvania tomorrow and is expecting a couple of cold days.0
