Well I've just applied online for my first one and am waiting for confirmation. It does say on their website that each individual can only have 1 sole and 1 joint account, with the small print saying the T&Cs were correct as of Sep 2014, so I'll be interested to see if this works!
  • Perhaps this will herald the end of the multi current account savings blag that's been going on for ages. I wouldn't be surprised if Lloyds, Santander, halifax etc will follow suit and they could even close the additional accounts moving the money to one.

After all these are current accounts. It's high time banks offered decent paying savings accounts.

At the minute, both me and my partner have 2 TSB accounts each.

In the next couple of weeks, we were planning on converting one of each to a joint account, then opening a new one each, giving us 2 each and 2 joint.

Am I right in thinking this article reads as though we will still be alright to do this until January 2015, as we already have the accounts open?

eta... It might now be too late anyway, T&Cs have updated to say one each

Still may be worth a go.

How exactly do you open a joint account, do you need to go into branch or can you do this online?

Edit: Looks like you need to go into branch

Good question - and an equally good answer! As you say:

    Apply for a joint account

You can open a joint account or add someone to your existing account at your nearest branch. You'll both need to go into a branch so that you can provide identification in person.

Which doesn't leave much room for doubt - unless anyone has found a way of adding a joint account to an existing sole account online?

Just opened an account today. Tried to over the weekend but it didn't work.

Still think I can get a second single account?

not if the article referenced in post #1 is correct. Have you any information that suggests it isn't?
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

Doubt it now unfortunately. I'm in the same boat. Applied just before 6pm tonight and THEN found this thread

I need to rejig my plan now as I had it all worked out on the basis of having my main Club, 2x TSB and 2-3 BOS Classic Vantage accounts...
  • Looking to open this account but am currently traveling aka I don't have an address at home anymore only my rented flat or my family's. I have a limited company to so no work address. Will I get approved for this? And what address shall I use?
